Where will you be before you get to Boston. Someone might be able to hook you up before you get to boston. My mule usually goes up every Wed to Hill and Treehouse, sometimes Trillium.

Thanks guys - that makes sense to me. I can try posting on the other forums and see what happens. Really appreciate your replies.

Currently in Florida and flying into Boston so unfortunately probably not a go-er. Thank you though!

I’ll go against the grain on this one. If I flew into Manchester to go see United, I could rent a car and have a designated driver drive us to Sheffield for a beer. Perhaps even Martha and Dan’s place that they created after Pretty Things here in MA. But I may have missed out on other opportunities to do so.

I live in the Boston area. I have a car. Yes I’ve gone to Treehouse. If I was in town for a limited time, I’d spend my money on local food and drink. Uber to Nightshift. Stop in Idle Hands. Walk over to Fort Point Market and buy from the large selection of beers in their frig. Stop over at Trillium in Fort Point. Perhaps go to Lamplighter. Stop in at some of the local beer bars. Are they Treehouse? No, they’re different. Hell, perhaps you find a place that can sell you an ice cold PBR tall boy of old school American lager to wash down your food of choice.

You won’t have ticked the Treehouse box, but you’ll probably have some good memories and a nice buzz.

If you are at all a "good" driver, I would suggest the rental car option if still possible. You will get a way better feeling for the area. If Americans can drive in the UK, then you can handle driving here. The biggest issue would be related to beer drinking then driving.

    Can't knock @Hiwattowner advice either

I doubt you want to spend this much money, but I just checked Uber/Lyft and it’ll run you about $80 each way. Granted that’s at night now, during the day might be cheaper.

Or if you took the train to Worcester the Uber/Lyft will run you about $20-25 each way from the station and back.

I'm curious how long you are staying in the area. Like if I am somewhere for a week, I may take a day out to travel an hour plus to a brewery that I REALLY want to visit. But if it is only 2-3 days, the Tree House round trip seems like a lot of time to spend as opposed to just hitting a handful of breweries in Boston just with some local ride shares or taxis. With a big chunk of your time devoted to catching trains or stressing about ride sharing or driving on a different side of the road, that sounds more like a business trip than part of an enjoyable vacation.

With the Tree House system being in place for awhile now I think you could find someone in the Boston area to help you out in return for a portion of your order or other beers. I don't think BA allows for proxies in the trade forums, but there should be Tree House or general New England beer facebook groups out there that you could pursue. There are also some desirable beers/breweries in Florida for trading if you were to haul those up to Boston.

If those are the numbers involved, and I’ve paid to go from UK > whichever intermediate country OP went to > Florida > Boston, with all the flight, accommodation, food, etc costs involved - then at that point definitely tacking that on to check out a brewery I really want to hit.

    Agreed.

@Manunitedwill I would take the train out to Worcester. Armsby Abbey is less than a mile from the train station, so about a 12-15 minutes walk. It is arguably the best beer bar in MA, has a killer burger, and the best part...you can drink Hill Farmstead on draft! You won't find Hill on draft anywhere else in MA.

Then it's a fairly cheap Uber/Lyft out to Tree House and back to the train.

Also, I've been living in the Boston area all my life, have been into craft beer since 2004, and have never been to Tree House. I'm ok with that. I've had more Tree House beers than I can count from friends, and I feel as if you can get beers of similar quality in and around the Boston area without making the trek out to Charlton.

    Now if it was Notch...
