Yeah, I know that’s “a reason” but I’m looking for a “good reason” lol.

That doesn’t strike me as logical rationale to discontinue a service that’s convenient for customers, but whatever.

I would think it has to do with space and logistics. The online pickup fridge area was taking up a lot of space in the Ferm, so where else would they relocate that entire pickup/cold storage area to continue with the high volume online ordering? That’s my guess anyway.

I thought the only reason they had the temporary fridges in the middle of the ferm was to expedite the outdoor-only pickup. Presumably they have enough other fridge space in the building to hold the cans. I don't see why they couldn't keep online ordering and have people pickup at the bar or the side door, like they did pre-covid.

Does either Tired Hands location allow dogs?

Ferm reopens tomorrow for pours/food, 3-9 daily.

Can't remember if I ever saw a dog at Ferm, I want to say no since it's all indoors.

Anyone visit tonight? Anyone take a picture of draft list? Anything special or special bottles?

They can barely move cans now as it is.. discontinuing online ordering is going to hurt their pockets and the potential to can and store new beer.

Thanks for the info on this!

So my fiance and pup and I are moving from Boston to DC and pit stopping in Philly for the night. Staying in the burbs, but looking to spend the evening putzing around the city. Looking for a good brewery or beer bar where we can post up on the patio (that'll hopefully have Tired Hands).

Any recs would be great, thank you!

If by "the city" you specifically mean center city, then I'd recommend you check out Glory Beer Bar: https://gloryphilly.com/. A few good Tired Hands on tap now, along with some other local stuff. If you're less concerned with location, Fishtown will have a bunch of good beer bars within walking distance of one another.

Stay in the burbs and hit up tired hands. They just reopened.
The city is a violent shit hole

lol please stop. This is alarmist bullshit. I live in the city and have never personally witnessed violent crime here, let alone been a victim of it (and I don't live in one of the well-to-do zip codes by any means). That doesn't mean that one shouldn't use common sense, obviously... but it would be very, very surprising if a random out-of-towner wanting to visit some of the nicer beer bars and breweries in the area actually had to have concern for this kind of thinking.

edit: Unless you were sarcastic or satirical or something? Sorry if so, it's difficult to tell these days.

Haha Sorry didn’t mean to be offensive. I used to own a house in the city, have family that still live in the city, and still currently work in the city.

but seriously if just looking for tired hands then I’d just go there. But if you want a decent beer bar then agree fishtown has them…although not sure how many have outdoor patios…center city may be better for that

No personal offense taken, that comment is just (1) not at all the case and (2) usually has, uhhh... certain undertones to it, we'll say (sincerely not implying that you're guilty of adding this layer, though).

Anyway, @mcjlm , if you want a more extensive list, I'll throw in some more names to check out (others may disagree, obviously):

Best beer destinations in the city (I haven't been to some of these in "COVID-times"):
    Monk's (obviously)
    Memphis Tap
    Human Robot
    Glory
    Khyber
    Strangelove's
    Fermentory Form
    Bottle Bar East
    Tria

Best beer destinations just outside of the city:
    Tired Hands Fermentaria
Forest & Main (make sure to look up their current status on Insta)

Yeah, again - couldn't be less worried about city navigation, or weird veiled racism. I've spent some really great time in Philly proper, even around black people WOW. Straight up looking for patios that allow dogs and have good brews. If TH allowed pups, this wouldn't be an issue but here we are. Thanks guys!

Ah you should have noted the "dog" aspect at the outset. If you don't mind hanging out in the "neighborhood"-y part of the city a little, you should really just consider hanging out in Fishtown and hitting up three prime, dog-friendly places that are all within like one square mile:

Memphis Tap (great porch, great beer, dog friendly)
Interstate (great porch, great beer, dog friendly)
Human Robot (great porch, great beer, dog friendly)

And right in-between them is Tired Hands's St. Oner's location where you can grab some to-go if you want. Hope that helps!

Where are you staying outside the city? Teresa's Next Door in Wayne is one of the best beer bars in the Philly area and they have sidewalk seating. I don't think I have ever seen Tired Hands there though, but they do have Pliney like 75% of the time.

Anyone try Go Ride a Bike? I know this is an old beer that hasn’t been done in a very long time but I haven’t had it and a crushable Motueka IPA at 5.5% sounds incredible…..
