In for a penny, in for a pound:

Another in the Allagash From Maine, With Love series. This one is No. 8, picked up at the brewery last weekend. Hopefully an upgrade over yesterday's poor attempt...

Slightly hazy deep golden color, big head that falls to a bubbly layer with webs sticking yo the glass.

A mild funk hits the nose first, followed by citrus that is lemony, a bit of peach or maybe apricot. A little earthy, and some Belgian spicy yeasty notes come into play. Mild, but pleasant.

The taste is bigger. Lemony, pineapple, funk, earthy, and spicy peppery taste on the finish above all that. A little bit of sweetness gives it some balance. This one ties together pretty well. Peach comes in pretty clearly on repeated sips.

The body is medium, but the beer is fairly crisp and refreshing. A bitterness shows in the aftertaste and spiciness lingers.

Overall, not a bad beer here. It doesn't get the full blown wild treatment, as the funkiness is very much in check. Not a headliner by any means but a pleasant drinker. Thinking 3.75 territory on this one.

Clear, pale yellow body; excellent carbonation; relatively thin yet soapy head; some foam sticking to the glass. Lightly sweet and grainy nose. Mild grainy flavor with a mild to moderate hop bitterness; a very faint metallic note. Light body; crisp and dry on the palate.

This is a nice, well-rounded pilsner. There are no gimmicks per se, and is simple in pure in execution and presentation. A very nice beer.

    Poured at 54 °F; PKG: 07/12/21

This was another beer selected for the BA LagerFest. I didn't get around to it until now. I love it's simplicity and humble elegance.

I also gave the Schilling Landbier Dunkel to a neighbor who stopped by today. I've already had several of them a while back. Loved the beer, but also love to share beers that other people like. My neighbor likes dark lagers, so this one fit the bill....

I'm jealous of those of you that live in an area that can get beer from Half Time, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy a local lager - From Transient no less!
This is one of those rare beers that is better as a whole than the individual parts would indicate. Quite good!
Poured straw yellow that wasn’t quite transparent, and had a nice white head accenting the color.
The aroma was faint but I did get malts and lemon.
The taste rather followed, malts and very balanced hops which resulted in a biscuit with lemon curd taste. Really enjoyed.
The feel was excellent, if altogether brief due to my really enjoying this.
So many really good beers out there and if I were prone to drinking lots of lagers then this one would be in my fridge.

    Cheers All!

This was lot fun for me to be able to taste my home brew 1st fruited mixed ferm ( just started to allow dirty bugs into my brewery)

Fox Farm Avalonia batch 2 bottled 4/21
My home brew (mix Ferm blend of a couple of house farm house ales, dregs of HF, saurez, and French saison) with Brett C. Aged on 3 pounds per gallon of sweet/sour cherries.. Bottled 2 weeks ago

    Look:

FF off pink white head fades quickly no lacing, clear clear ruby

HB: little head while pouring (only 2 weeks bottle condition) touch of haze touch lighter ruby the FF.

    Both I would give 4

    Smell:

FF: light vinegar smell, not much else

HB: faint as well, no vinegar more like sweet water, touch of something but blind no way would say cherries

    3.75 for both

    Taste:

FF: strong tartness borderline puckering like ocean spray cranberry juice 4.25

HB: not as tart, not sure if confirmation basis but tasting more cherry with some earthy notes, the tartness is less the FF 4.0

M: both are crisp and good carb, FF has a touch more bite and carb FF 4/ HB 3.75

The hb is only 2 weeks carb in the bottle so seems a touch under carb at this point and not surprising

Overall: I enjoyed then both the Fox farm is more sour but not an acid bomb and enjoyed. 4.25 for both

The HB not as sour and felt had a little more complex taste I could not pin point (maybe it was the less acid)

I did mix then up and try them blinded (just for fun) and I could pick out which is which.

This was my 1st planned mixed fruited Home-brew sour and I really happy that I enjoyed as much as I did while drinking side by side compared to Fox farm which is amazing brewery!

Good evening everyone. My new beer for today is Ceci N'est Pas Une Gueuze from Les Trois Mousquetaires. 2017 bottle. Poured from just under fridge temp. Pours a murky orange with little head. The nose is phenomenal. Definitely on par, or better, than some of the best Beligan gueuze. Nose is peach, crab apples, leather, lemon, grass, sour funk, and wet oak. The taste is outstanding. Very funky. Almost mouth-puckering sourness. Big citrus notes - orange, lemon, a bit of grapefruit. Sour apples, wet grass, leather, wheat, sour patch kids, wet oak, wet soil. The taste is so intense and complex. This is a truly amazing beer. Finish is long and sour. Leaves a taste of peach skin in the mouth, along with a touch of mango. I wish I had another bottle!

Awesome to read something like this. It’s gotta be a cool feeling, especially when compared to such a well known brewery. Thanks for sharing the side by side.

Headed out shopping (I'll be posting in beer hauls soon). Now I'm back on the couch with another Fremont, Head Full of Dynomite v31, with a laundry list of hops in it (according to the Untappd listing, anyway).
16oz can served in a Belgian chalice. Bought it at the brewery about a week ago. Can is dated 08/11/21.

Pours a very murky orange amber color with a medium head that collapses to a thinnish ring and a thin dusting across the surface. Carbonation is there -- fine, slow, and hard to see in the haze. Smell is very ripe tropical fruit, maybe some melon, maybe bubblegum.

Taste is hop resin, melon, bubblegum, more hop resin, tropical notes are there. Strong pithy bitterness.

Mouthfeel is rich but dry, that resinous chalkiness. This is a very nice beer.

Thank you! it was a lot of fun to try and something I will do more of moving forward on this forum. Next up will be my czech pils, I hope will be ready in 2 weeks.

Updated blended the 2 together for fun and super tasty, took the fox farm acid down a touch line with my palate.

Purchased at lone star beverages in Carrollton , texas. Have never had a barrel aged marzen

Packaged in an attractive and appealing litho color print box that holds two 12 oz cans

“We took our award winning Oktoberfest marzen lager and aged it in American oak bourbon barrels for 12 weeks. The result is an impressive blend of oak, caramel , toffee, vanilla and spice.”

Can poured into a stein results in a one finger taupe foam layer, good retention that settles to a thick layer over a clear copper liquid

Aroma is toffee, malts, vanilla, whiff of spice

Taste is malt with caramel bourbon notes, mildly sweet

Medium sudsing , caramel taste rests firmly on the tongue

Good beer , recommended , interesting take on the style .

[IMG] Poured into a 13 oz tulip glass, pours a dark brown with a 2 plus khaki head that leaves loads of thin lace, with excellent retention. 4.25

Aroma maple is dominant, maybe some vanilla, a hint of coffee, and a little chocolate. 3.5

Taste follows huge maple, vanilla, coffee, a hint of lemon, and cocoa. 3.5

Mouthfeel a tad thin, enough carbonation, maybe a tad dry, and at 6.5% pretty big on flavor and goes down easy enough. 3.75

Overall this 4 pack, will be the only of this variant, not great for me. If you love maple it might be your thing. 3.5

    Dogfish Head Fruit-full Fort
12oz bottled 07/18/18 (over three years ago) poured into a DFH branded teku glass at 61° Fahrenheit no ABV listed on label. The beer pours opaque medium brown in color with minimal light brown head. The head recedes to a thin ring and leaves no lacing. The aroma is mild with brown malt, nondescript berry, and ethanol. The taste is hot, berry-centric, and boozy. Minimal bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and a dry finish. Overall, not great. This old stock just hit our local stores and it tastes like it sat for 3 years in blazing heat and direct sunlight. I'd try it again fresh or if I knew it were aged properly.

    Cheers all!

Seriously, has no one quoted this yet? I'd love to try a home brew cherry sour, and my wife would, too.

Maybe I'm just bad at looking for posts?

@jkblr I remember having fort years ago, not aged, and honestly your description fits my memory. I’m sure my memory is foggy but what I do remember is it tasted like berry infused rubbing alcohol. It was all booze and then more booze.

Back from the lake and the camper where the “phone WiFi” (LTE service) is still out, so the new lagers I had Friday and Saturday as part of Lager Fest were for my enjoyment only - and I enjoyed the four I had tremendously.

Back home now and out for dinner with Mrs O, this is Pompeii Beach from Toppling Goliath, a beer I sought here in Northern Indiana since it released a few weeks ago (because I really enjoy the base beer), but couldn’t track down until this evening.

    look: 4 | smell: 4 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Brilliant orange color, very hazy, minimal white head. The nose is a straight up mango/pineapple fruit cup, with maybe a pretense of the Mosaic hop deep in the background.

The taste removes any pretense at hop flavor immediately - this is all pineapple and mango fruit cup. It may make a nice beach beer, but it in no way resembles the base beer or an IPA - it’s all fruit.

The mouthfeel is nicely medium, to the style. TG is a favorite brewery of mine, and I’m glad I could give this a try, but I wouldn’t seek this out again.

Ozark Beer Co. All Day Snuggles DIPA,9.9% ABV; 4.26 Overall Score

    From the howler:

Pours a bright & effervescent gold with a pinky of eggshell colored head. Nice lacing & head retention

    S: Papaya, pineapple, peach

T: Papaya, Kiwi Fruit, Honey Crisp Apple & a light breadyness up front, some pineapple as well up front. Pineapple, mango , breadyness & guava as this warms. A little white grape in the finish, along with breadyness, peach & mango

MF Medium body, smooth carbonation, great balance just a hint of ABV warmth

Superb drinkability, No way I would've thought this close to this ABV, so much flavor. Nose doesn't deliver, thought it was better the source

Good evening all, hope the weekend was relaxing for those who had the time off. Mine was abbreviated as I worked a good chunk of Saturday, and Ill be honest, I am not ready for it to be over, but alas here we are. My second new beer of the day is another one of the Lager Fest beers that I wanted to spend some time reviewing - Schilling Landbier Dunkel. This is a Franconian dunkel (i.e.not a Munich dunkel).

Pours a dark chestnut brown color. Opaque due seemingly to the dark color of the beer. A three finger sudsy tan head forms on the beer and lingers for a moment before dissipating leaving a thin layer of velvety foam coating the top of the beer. The aroma on this is incredible - its pungent with rich notes of dark crusty bread, cocoa, walnuts, nutty earthy malts, and molasses, but its not sweet and even on the nose it comes across as a dry beer.

The flavor follows the nose with rich nutty and walnut notes, dark crusty bread and light cocoa notes The back end produces a lovely earthy, slightly spicy, hop note with a moderate amount of bitterness. Minimal sweetness. There is such a rich depth to the flavors with each sip providing a different perspective of the profile. Feel is moderately bodied, smooth, creamy and quite dry throughout. Lightly carbonated.

An absolutely delicious beer, and one that just perfectly hits what I love from a dark lager. This is one of those beers that I will not soon forget. Ive always been impressed with Schilling's beers, but this one is at a different level. A must try if you get the chance.
