Who is ready for another Hazy?!? :stuck_out_tongue:

    https://www.stonebrewing.com/beer/year-round-releases/stone-hazy-ipa

ESCONDIDO, CA – Stone Hazy IPA hits the market this week with a truly hazy glow. It is juicy, creamy and unlike any beer of Stone’s past. This week, the 6.7% ABV beer joins Stone’s lineup of year-round offerings nationwide.

Stone Brewing is notorious for its expansive portfolio of IPAs, and often credited with having kickstarted the West Coast IPA style with its iconic Stone IPA. Now, the brewery takes on the hazy IPA category with a masterful beer worthy of its place among the brewery’s award-winning IPAs. While Stone has offered many expressions of the hazy IPA style, this is the one most conventional in style, yet astounding in execution.

Stone Hazy IPA, described by its brewers as an “absolute juicy citrus bomb of a beer,” is brewed with a unique combination of fruity and tropical hops. El Dorado and Azacca are the primary expressive hops imparting vivid orange, lemon and melon flavors. Sabro adds intense tropical mango and pineapple, creating memorable complexity. Its bitterness is meticulously balanced – perceivable, but predominantly smooth and easy to drink. Most notably, it has a deep golden opaque look hazier than most on the market.

Kris Ketcham, Senior Manager of Brewing & Innovation – Liberty Station, and lead mastermind behind this brew explains, “We wanted a beer that still retained the juicy goodness of a blended East Coast and West Coast IPA style, but with a smoother body, lower bitterness, and lower ABV. We trialed many beers in this style, and although several were really good, it was this one that blew everyone away. It was a big hit at our taprooms.”

Stone Hazy IPA is now available nationwide in 12oz six-pack cans and on draft.
    • Name: Stone Hazy IPA
    • Stats: 6.7% ABV, 35 IBUs
    • Packaging: 12oz six-pack cans & draft
    • Appearance: Opaque haze, yellow-orange, thin white head
    • Aroma: Pineapple, orange, guava, hints of cedar and vanilla, banana-cream, coconut
    • Taste: Mango, pineapple, orange, honey-dew melon, herbaceous hop character, lingering pine
    • Palate: Smooth mid-palate, slight sweetness, short finish and hints of bitterness on the end

By my reckoning this is the fourth Juicy/Hazy beer to make the Stone Brewing year-round portfolio:

    · Stone Tangerine Express Hazy IPA

    · Stone ///Fear.Movie.Lions Hazy Double IPA

    · Stone Neverending Haze IPA

    · Stone Hazy IPA

Couldn’t the Marketing & Sales folks think of an adjective to use for this fourth hazy beer?

    Cheers!

Oh look! Year-round IPA number 8 for Stone (hazy no.4). And an 'absolute juicy citrus bomb' at that.

They can't even stand out in their own crowd.

If a beer says hazy on the label I pick another one. If it says Stone I also pick another one.

    Enjoy

So, if you pick up this one, you get to go home with two different beers! Sounds like a win-win to me

I enjoy hazies but yeah the market is so crowded at this point...but no different than regular IPAs when they were really popular I suppose and at least now I am not seeing the every style needs to be hoppy trend like I did then.

Meh. I'd try it but I'm not excited about it. Wow, yet another hazy IPA! That's never been done before...

I'd give almost anything for Stone to bring back some of their truly great beers, like Ruination, Oak'd Arrogant Bastard, Smoked Porter, Mocha IPA, Americano, or Coffee Milk Stout, but I doubt it'll ever happen.

Their marketing department needs an overhaul. They can’t think of new beers styles to brew and they can’t even think of a good name. Stone Hazy IPA? That’s what they came up with? Just mailing it in now.

Id trade all those you mentioned for IRS and Old Guardian. They still tap Coffee Milk and Oak'd from time to time in their taprooms...
Now about this post...i thought this thread was bumped from 2016:joy:
Stone needs to close and rethink their strategy, but then again business is all SUPPLY AND DEMAND. And what do we expect?
Few years ago the BEST SELLING BEERS WERE Yellow and flavorless ABINBEV and friends..soooo.. do we want that to be norm again or is this the better alternative?

The best thing they've done in the past two years was re-release Sublimely Self-Righteous, albeit as a one-off. It rekindled my hope for the brewery again! Unfortunately, I doubt that'll be the norm, as they continue to wallow in mediocrity.

Oh, yeah - I remember that like it was yesterday. Hey, hold on it was yesterday --- and today, since they still are, by million of barrels a year.

I just don't understand the marketing for haze. I understand it's for the masses to bite, but haze should be a byproduct of making the beer, not the goal and certainly not the focus.

Shocker, another (Hazy) IPA from Stone. They are turning into the very definition of a one trick pony...

I assumed they'd been making one for years. Shows how much I pay attention to Stone's naming conventions. Feels like they've been stuck in 2014 for a while. They crank out a new IPA every week, but none of them are the ultra-sweet thick AF kinds that people fiend over.

I'm not into fruited IPAs. Accordingly, I haven't been buying much Stone lately, as it seems to be a majority of what they produce these days.

That said, I picked up a 6er of classic Stone IPA. What a great beer. Solid West Coast IPA. No haze. No juice. I'll be back for more of that.
