I am a big Two Hearted fan, so I was excited to try this. Unfortunately, I was fairly disappointed. I have tried it both on tap and in bottles and will probably never revisit it again.

One of the places i get my beer at has singles of this so i might give it a try . i am not a fan on two hearted ale but seeing that this leans on barleywine territory i am tempted

Can you tell us how you arrived to your conclusion?

For those of us who are curious and haven't taken the leap yet.

if it was 2x as good as regular Two Hearted it would be the best beer ever made, by a country mile.

I’m guessing you might not have it, but if you have PayPal I’m happy to give you the funds to make a six pack purchase. Just to hear your honest thoughts.

Hah. Thanks, but not to worry -- I'm already planning on a mix-six with it when I see it.

I am not saying that it is a bad beer, but I think I was expecting it to taste more like a bigger version of Two Hearted, and I didn't get that at all. Couple that with the price point, and I would rather buy other DIPA's that I like better at or below the same cost.

I found it to be a bit on the sweet/caramelly/malty side, and it had more hop bitterness than hop character/flavor. It almost feels more like an American Barleywine.

Had I not gone into it with such high expectations, and assuming the flavor would be more similar to Two Hearted, I might have enjoyed it more.

And people think “triple IPA” labels are just marketing.

Finally got a 6 pack and tried it over the weekend. Just as I remembered, malty sweet and full body that quickly gives way to the hops, more floral and woody to me than citrus. I really like the alcohol warmth in the back of the throat this one gives. Yea, 11% abv is not going to taste anything like reg two hearted, hell not even a double two hearted if there was such a beer, and that's just fine by me. Off to get another 6'er.

Three months old — the aroma doesn’t pop as much, but it’s still tasting great

Had some a month or so ago, best 'new to me' beer I've had in years. A nice relief from the hazy crap that's everywhere now.

I love Double Two Hearted, but I think people comparing it to OG Two Hearted are missing the mark: it's a completely different beer, and it's not trying to be Two Hearted.

I'm with @thebeers on this one. Totally OK if people pass on it (it is quite sweet and malty), but I just don't get the near surprise that it's not exactly like Two Hearted, but boozier.

Yea I don't get it either, I think it's the name of it....maybe call it Four hearted ale??

Not having had it, I'm wondering how it compares it Hopslam.

One of our locals has carried Two Hearted in the past so if I come across the Double I'll certainly review it.
