    I've never done one of these. Have always been curious. Can I play?

    And we love having you. Do what you need to do for your own reasons. But having said that, the reveal weekend is not "mandatory" participation on that specified weekend. If you choose to participate, we'll let the sender know about that window of time.

    OK, I'm both terrified and excited, but I wanna play, too. I'd like to blame @2beerdogs for talking me into it, but I did most of the work for him.

    @2beerdogs
    The entire point of this BIF specifically is to improve participation in New Beer Weekend. There are other (awesome, excellent!) BIFs out there to get your feet wet (I highly recommend Newbies). All BIFs are great fun, but this one requires NBW participation.

    If, however, you've checked out NBW and just never felt comfortable dipping your feet in before now, and want to give it a try, you've got a couple of weeks of the sign up period to get involved in the thread and find a sponsor among the BIFers. :slight_smile:

    As we built this BIF to support NBS, and NBS is focused on posting reviews and/or detailed thoughts about your new brew on the weekends, maybe getting a few reviews in, and posting in NBS would help pave your way.

    If you're not comfortable posting reviews, there will be the next round of the Can Cans BIF, likely getting started a couple weeks after this one finishes, and ending early December-ish.

    I too am BIF-curious.

    Has that joke been made before?

    Not that I'm aware, but compared to many here, I'm still new.

    I get it. I'm very green at reviewing beer, but not with trading. So post reviews in NBS thread on the reg and that could get me in. Or wait for another BIF that is not focused on the specific NBS reviews. Thanks for the guidance.

    Wait, now I have to remember all the jokes that have been made through the previous 13 rounds?

    Or, if you know an established participant who would be willing to vouch for you. The big thing is to be active on NBS/NBW. Knocking out a quick 300 charcater review is really quite easy, you don't have to try to do multi-pargraph reviews like some folks do. Trying a few, with beers you're already familiar with, is a good way to start.

    I was also very green reviewing beers for others to see and comment on, and it worried me I'd screw it up or offend someone (I just have the knack apparently) but the folks on the NBS list are excellent company and will help if you ask (and sometimes before you ask) So if you are indeed interested (I see you did the Stanley Cup 2021 BIF), I'd suggest reading through the last NBW thread (It's only what, 4 pages?) and then scoping out a new beer to enjoy next weekend with us, while telling us what you think about it.

    I'm the same way, which is one of the reasons I like this BIF and the NBS. It forces me to practice. I don't think my reviews are that great, but everyone's nice and supportive.

    I think my reviews stink, but I give them from my beer nerd heart and try to describe what I’m tasting in that particular moment. Plus, I’m a notorious overrater, so I’ve got THAT going for me.

    That’s all any of us can do - describe what we’re tasting in the beer we’re drinking and how we feel about it in that moment. If we all do that, this will continue to be an awesome place to come and check out beers.

    @not2quick , this is the core of it, IMHO. A review is only ones experience, with that beer, at that time, in that place, under those conditions. Someones experience with, say SNPA, out of a bottle, at trailhead, after a 12 mile hike in the mountains, is gonna be different than their experience with SNPA at 1am, out of a pitcher, in a smoky bar, after some pizza and a dozen insane hot wings.
