Thanks to @colby600 I had this one.

Allora IPA by Fox Farms Brewery

Hazy yellow color with white cap and good lacing.

Aroma primarily of sharp, herbal hops with citrus on the back.

Taste is hop forward in a sharp, herbal way quickly followed by citrus which to me is tangerine with grapefruit zest. Texture is mouth filling and finish is clean.

    Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

Overall it's a good example of the NEIPA style.

No I didn't! We're getting local distro now so I've just been hitting my usual spot. However, I do believe it may be cheaper to order and have em shipped than buying from the store!

[IMG] Tonight's Blind Battle Beer Tasting Labor Day is a Great Lineup! (All 3 out of 3 pairs correctly identified blind)

    1) Pryes Pragmatic Pils (4.2%):
A German Pilsner from Minnesota that has flavors of pale malts, salty yeast, and some lemongrass. Crisp and clean.
    versus
    2) Firestone Lager (4.5%): A German helles lager from California brewed since 2000 and has smooth and easy, drinking flavors of pale malts, lemon citrus and light honey and Munich malts.

    3) Bells Oktoberfest (5.5%): A Marzen-style from MIchigan that has flavors of toasty bread and creamy malts with only hints of herbal hops. Pretty standard.
    versus
    4) Surly Oktoberfest (6.0%): A festbier from Minnesota that has flavors of honeyflower and Surly's signature yeast flavors. Lots of honey here

    5) Three Floyd’s Barbarian Haze IPA (6.5%): A Hazy IPA from Indiana with flavors of resinous orange, tropical fruit, and pineapple. Balanced and smooth.
    versus
    6) Toppling Goliath’s King Sue (7.8%): A double hazy IPA from Iowa hopped with Citra that has flavors of orange citrus, mint, and creaminess

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Winners:

    1) Pryes Pragmatic Pils:
This one has a nice crisp and clean German hop and yeast profile that gives it flavor, but allows it to drink bitter, crisp, and clean.

    4) Surly Oktoberfest: This is always one of my favorite festbiers. It has a distinct honeyflower flavor that is characteristic of Surly's house yeast, but with a honey flavor. Bells was okay, but more malty and lacked much, if any hops.

    6) Toppling Goliath's King Sue: This one is hit or miss sometimes in terms of quality. Tonight's was a hit though. A perfection of orange flower, pineapple, and mango with an intense green citrus quality.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Have you tried Bells' Oktoberfest or Surly's Oktoberfest and what did you think?
Do you think Toppling Goliath King Sue is hit or miss sometimes? When done right is there a better NEIPA?

Cutting Wages, ahem, Tiles, from Trillium. My bad. I'm sure they did their best. Love these guys on tap. Canning game needs to change, though. It can't be lost on them. Beers taste great, yet provide none of that lacing or head that you experience at the source(s). I love you. Hunter lips; God's ears. Cheers!!!

Getting choked up and misty eyed listening to the Dead’s version of Merle Haggard’s “Sing Me Back Home”. This Spectrum show version is almost as the Venetta, Oregon version from ‘72. Still working on the Contemporary Sultana, though![IMG]
