Don’t utter the words Coffee and Black Tuesday, don’t need to ruin a great beer

Does Mocha Wednesday count? I’m actually not a coffee fan, but enjoy it in some stouts that lean sweeter (like MW) rather than bitter/roast. I enjoy MW but it’s not my favorite BT variant.

I thought Bottle Logic Scatter Signal was one of the best beers I had last year, as the marshmallow and cacao nibs made it much sweeter than a typical coffee beer and the combined adjuncts worked together perfectly.

For me, coffee isn't guaranteed to ruin it...I just haven't come across one that made it better to me.

When I first had Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout in maybe 2008/9 I thought it was amazing... I even homebrewed a coffee porter shortly thereafter. But since then every coffee beer I've tried is meh or bleh.

I think you're right that the roastiness of the beans accentuates preference. Also, the style of a lot of trendy coffee these days can be acidic, which I don't care for either, so if a brewery is partnering with a local boutique roaster (typical, and very cool for those who are into it) I think that ends up being a little more common.

The time I homebrewed the coffee porter I was working for a coffee company, so I had good beans but also I pulled a bunch of espresso shots and chilled those to add at bottling, rather than infusing whole/ground beans or adding cold drip coffee. That meant acidity and bitterness were kept to a minimum, which I think helped. Suuuper inefficient for any kind of larger scale brewing though!

Curious to see if you’ve tried Tree House Triple shot? I personally love what they’ve accomplished with that beer.

I have not... In Perpetuity is the only thing of theirs I've tried. I don't have the energy for online trading, and don't make it out East very often.

Sometimes when this happens you can click to the individual product page and add from there rather than from allocations page.

Emailed DC and they said people were reporting off flavors and said they had another batch coming in Oct if wanted replacement, I wonder if Chew on This will be like this also?

No sourness when I had it back in June. Recent UT reviews are noting sourness as well. Looks like infection.

Wasn't there a White Chocolate infection several years ago?

There were many infections several years ago with full recalls. Dodie, Rest, Melange 15...

2017-ish they separated bottling lines for Terreux and Bruery to different locations, and started pasteurizing, and the quality since has been exemplary.

IIRC, it was White Chocolate Chunk that had issues. 2019 maybe?

I think Geburstagkranz in 18 skunked out after awhile. I had one good bottle before it went south.
