It's a barleywine. And we haven't tasted it yet. It could suck...

Works for me since my buddy just grabbed us each a 2 pack an hour ago. Shocked it isn't gone. I know HA isn't known for their BA barleywine (I love Orin personally), but Rev knows a thing or 2 about such a product.

Decided to try Balmoral again tonight. Last time we went without a reservation and was told there was a 3 hour wait. Thought it was a little odd there was no social post giving a heads up, but figured eh, on us for not having one and assuming it would be like the time before.

So made sure to book something a day in advance this time. We showed up for our 5:30 reservation and were told they’re out of both burgers and chicken sandwiches, so like 2/3 of their main menu. Nice 40 minute RT with the family.

I guess next time we will book a reservation and call periodically throughout the day to see if they will be able to keep a stable menu through the afternoon. I’m sure there’s another missing step I’m not aware of yet.

I mean, if this was me, I would just stop going. Not like RABBLE RABBLE CANCEL HALF ACRE…I just have my limits with how many chances I’ll give a place.

Yeah, this was the first where it’s just squarely on them. We’ve been three times. The first was a Sunday evening / no reservation, seated without issue and was lightning fast service, food great. Then the 3 hour wait night, also a Sunday evening, which we obviously didn’t bother with. Bounced to Little Bad Wolf and got seated within 5 minutes. Now this. I just don’t understand why they can’t send a quick note to their social person to say “hey sorry all we are running low / out of xyz for the night”. It would be frustrating but at least they tried to ease the impact.

I felt really bad for the like 90 year old vet by himself who was in front of us, and as he’s being taken to his table, they’re saying “your server can give you more info on what we’re running low on”. Same thing to us, which after 10 seconds of pushing them was confirmed to = out. We didn’t even sit down.

Yeah, totally. I really get that it’s things they can’t really control…but if I have bad luck and go on two different days that are just out of the ordinary, I’m not sure I want to try a third. I’ll still buy the beer…love the beer…would probably just skip the garden.

But this is all hypothetical lol

Chicken sandwiches might be something else - they could take a lot of prep, or may come in pre-prepped. But out of burgers? Send someone to the store. Being out of ground beef if it is 1/4 or more of your menu (based what was said above) is pretty inexcusable to me.

If they were out of buns, well, maybe that is a harder problem to solve. I dunno. Out of burgers is just a bit bonkers to me. I mean - I know everyone is low on help right now, so I shouldn’t stick my neck out too far here. But…I dunno. It’s ground beef. Fix it.

I think you were looking for Half Hour Brewing.

BTW, that sounds atrocious. I wouldn't go back after those experiences until post pandemic in hopes that they correct the issue. I will say the food shortage could be for real. Went to the grocery store today and they had wall to wall coolers of chicken drumsticks and thighs, but not a single chicken breast to be found.

There certainly have been a number of chicken related shortages. Just haven’t seen one on ground beef for…awhile.

Any word on Orin's release date this year? Last year was 9/24, and was kinda hoping it was this week or next so I can grab On & On part 2 and Orin at the same time.

On & On pt 1, Boss Ryeway & 10 Year Beer are still on. On & On pt 2 is kicked.

No food shortages or reservations needed on this chilly Wednesday!
