Typical Allagash that makes between-the-styles beers so well. Is it a porter? Is it a stout? Is it a black IPA? It's more subtle than North Sky that they call stout, which is not.

I had a pint of that when I was at the Allagash brewery a couple of weeks ago. I really liked it and was bummed they weren't selling any cans of it.

The Kellerbier is quite nice and up to par with some of the heavy lager hitters in the area. Would need to side by side with JA's Franconian (do they still make that?) but I really enjoyed this.

I won the cribbage match, obviously.

Finally ticking KJJJJ but not blown away. I'll sit on the other 3 cans a couple weeks. Very GGG followed a similar path where I didn't love it super fresh but loved it at the 3-4 wk mark. I think these are all overboard with the hops.

I've never heard of or seen it before but found it in two different chain supermarkets today. My guess is that they made a decent amount of this beer to hit the distro.

really like to show off some of our CT breweries on these threads. Fox Farm obviously gets some love here, but wanted to share an underhyped CT brewery today. East Rock makes some solid lager styles and is readily available at the brewery and also features solid distribution in the region.

    Onto my review:
Im sampling a cold 12 oz bottle poured into my .5L dimple mug. The beer pours a rich clear copper color with a fizzy eggshell white head of about 1 cm that fades quickly to a thin edge layer and some wispy islands in the center of the mug.
Aroma on this one is nice with toasted bread malt notes and some toffee mixing with some light floral hop notes. The malt notes are by far the strongest part of the nose.
the first sip reveals a medium to light body with a smooth and crisp texture. The carbonation is fine and tingly and overall the physical traits make for an easy drinking beer.
Flavor matches up with the nose. starts with some sweet caramel and moves to a toasted multi grain bread and finishes with some herbal hop bite. A little bit of black tea here. Finish is also very dry and makes my palate demand another sip, also increasing drinkability!
Overall this is a solid Marzen from an underappreciated Connecticut brewery. Glad I can visit there in about 10 minutes from my house!

What did I do on my day off? Why, worked of course. Duh. Can’t turn down that OT. Last can and I’m sad to see it go, this was really well made. Lots of crackery snap and, yes, just a subtle touch of brine.

One beer tonight so let’s make it worth it, a 13% IIPA collab between two local-to-me breweries, Secatogue and DUBCo. This is actually not too boozy at all, and I’m tasting that Nelson too. Nice malt backbone to it, better than I was expecting.

Absolute perfection…the voice and the beat.

Second bottle of The King from Tree House. Not quite as good as a couple months ago, but pretty damn good nonetheless. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had some baaad banana beer, but the conditioned on dried banana thing really works for me.

This smells amazing. Not quite Schlenkerla Märzen but not far off. The taste is good but doesn’t quite match the smell. The smoke is fast and quick and mostly a burnt chocolate finish. It’s very good, but that smell raised my expectations a bit.
