Holy balls... That October preview list is bonkers! Lots of good looking stuff.

Interesting that they totally reformulated 2 Turtle Doves.

I think either partial or a short period... There's not a lot of barrel there. Basically just pastry stout. Though I might go for this one after skipping the last several.

It's hard to actually taste the barrel in these but I suspect if they removed that component it would feel like something was missing.

There was a short stretch when I didn't enjoy them that that much "GSC, Pago Pago, Half Time Shuffle" but I think they have been pretty good since then.

wait… I never got the preview email. That, combined with the ongoing snafu with my Hoarders payment… getting nervous… hope they aren’t quietly kicking me out :grimacing::grimacing::grimacing:

I’ve been good lately… right? Right? :joy:

So, on the one hand I am glad the BT variants are being released individually and I don’t have to buy the carrot BT bottles. On the other hand, it is a bummer that the price increased enough that buying 9 of the other variants this year ($234) is almost exactly the same cost as the full 12-bottle box has been the past 2 years ($240).

Bruery stuff has always been premium priced (and rightly so), but the 30% “BT Box” price increase combined with the $53 Big Blue Stacks is enough to dampen my enthusiasm and likely purchase quantity for some of these releases I have been really looking forward to all year.

Yeah, as soon as you “De-Bulk” something, it makes an excuse for them to Jack up the price… same thing happens with 750’s vs 375’s and 16oz’ers… But it’d be wrong to put the blame on just The Bruery… that’s a common practice in all industries.

Totally. I always saw the BT boxes as having a built-in discount for bulk, so the higher pricing on these new ones isn't a surprise at all. BT adjunct 750s are consistent at $43, so to get these at $20 each in the past was a deal.

The first few 375ml they did (Red Wine BT comes to mind) did come in at 50% of the 750 price, but that was short lived (understandable based on their cost and the extra value received). They've had a pretty consistent pricing model on the different tiers since then: half price plus $1/2/3 depending on the tier. And in this case, the new BT variants all have 3+ adjuncts. So half of $43 is $21.50, plus $3, add a $1.50 for extra adjunct, and you're there. I don't want to pay $26 for a 375, but I get why it's priced there, so it is what it is.

Big Blue Stacks, you take BT, add $10 for adjuncts and $10 for second barrel year and you're at $53. Same as Chocolate Reign and Gray Monday.

I really wouldn't consider this bulk though. Sure, if it were 12 bottles of standard BT I would agree. I think it would be priced slightly LESS because they wouldn't need to spend the money on creating/printing the cool box the bottles come in.

The BT bottles look awesome but it's really tough for me to want to pull the trigger on more than one bottle at that price. Seeing the individual bottle price gives me the "man that's expensive" response while I would've likely bought it in a box form. Maybe if they had offered the box AND the individual bottles?

I’m bummed they aren’t releasing the BT blends in a box, I’ve enjoyed those the past couple years. The math is too much when you buy 12 bottles versus 1 box, hard to explain to my wife why I need 3 of each variant.

On the flip side, you can get one of each to see how you feel and then maybe grab a couple more of your favorite?

Works out well if you live in California. But, I get it, I have almost every hoarders sour from the boxes I'm pretty much never going to drink.

Went to society member Monday. While I tried all Black Tuesday variants and they were good. 2 were on another level. Scoop scoop scoop and conners cobbler. If you don’t max out on those two something’s wrong. If you prefer the other 2 something’s wrong. I’m sorry but those were incredible. I had regular Black Tuesday after that and that was my fault. I should have had that before before the variants. But scoop scoop scoop and conners was amazing

Any word on One & Dunn? I'm not seeing any reviews on untapped other than employees. And all the allocations are up on the site now other than that.

Where did Scoop come in compared to Furst for you?

And if you had the 2016 Cuvee back in the day where did Conner's land (granted no chocolate in Conner's)?

Who am I kidding? I'm getting one of each shipped tomorrow, I'm just curious!

Good catch on the 2TD. That's kinda a bummer b/c I always felt the draw to it was the description of the caramel, cocoa nibs, and toasted pecan. However, the toasted pecan is probably what also hurt the head retention on that beer. I feel like they should have doubled down on it and I'm pretty confident it would have been a top 1 or 2 of the Christmas set.
