I’m headed to San Diego from Nov 4-8. Only brewery on my list right now is Alesmith because I love me some Speedway. Other than stouts my preference are citrusy IPA’s, haze, no haze doesn’t matter. What do y’all recommend? Thank ya in advance and cheers!

If you look through the first few pages of this forum, you'll find other threads with lots of recommendations. Be sure to read those in addition to whatever anyone tells you in this thread.

Also, you might want to tell us where you're staying and whether you plan to be driving or using ride share services. San Diego is pretty spread out and you will inevitably get people telling you to go to, say, Pizza Port Ocean Beach, McIlhenny's and Rip Current San Marcos, and those three places (all good and worth a visit) are pretty far apart.

That said, North Park Beer Co is among the best at the styles you like (all styles, really) and highly recommended. Modern Times (multiple locations) is good for pastry stouts. McIlhenny's makes great IPAs but is a haul from central San Diego.

Spread out is ok, I’m use to it because I live in Houston. My girlfriend is from SD and we are staying with her mom. We will have a car and plan on doing plenty of driving. We’re headed to LA for the day on Friday.

It says online that San Diego beer week will be going on while I’m there? Is this a big festival or events at individual breweries?

Edit…..nothing came up on the search button

Various events at breweries. Alesmith usually does their Grand Prix event towards the end of the week (fri/sat/sun) where you purchase tickets ahead of time and exchange tickets for 4 speedway variants. They tend to have 4 "laps" where the first three laps are non-BA and the 4th tends to be 4 different BA variants. I attend every year.

Edit: Also events at beer bars too. Maybe a few eateries.

I can barely keep track of one account...let alone a burner account.

Not for beer. My gf’s best friend lives in LA and it’s just a little day trip to see her.

Close to Alesmith and worth a stop I feel like ... Embolden / Pure Project / Harland / Karl Strauss (around fall/winter they always release really cool stuff)

Great time to be in town. This is right at the start of SD Beer Week which runs from Nov. 5th-15th (yeah, it's a bit more than a week...). We'll be releasing cans of a DDH West Coast Double IPA collab with Horus on Nov. 5 and cans of a TDH Hazy Triple IPA collab with Electric Brewing on Nov. 6th.

Alesmith and stay there for stouts. Anywhere within 10 feet of it and you'll land on an acceptable hazy/ non hazy ipa of some sort.

Eppig brewing is nice and Ballast Point Home Brew Mart

Where are you staying? We stayed on Pacific Beach and mostly ended up at Modern times ( a few miles away) and Pizza Port ( Ocean Beach).. Across the street from Pizza Port is a really good sea food place called " Blue Water Sea Food" They make good shit so check them out too for food.

Depending on where you're going in LA region, coming back thru El Segundo would be my choice. Or in San Clemente, Artifex has excellent stouts as well as big IPAs. Then you can soak up all the Pizza Port IPAs from there to Ocean Beach. My favorite place for visitors is Fathom, a tiny bar with great tap list right on the little pier at Shelter Island while you sit outside and watch the lights on the harbor.

No more Toronado, no more Hamilton's, no more Tiger!Tiger!, no more Small Bar.

This SDBW just won't be the same. Thankfully there is still O'Brien's.
