Does “all orders are now accepted in person only” mean that online sales are dead?

It would appear so? There isn’t even an option to order online anymore.

They had previously mentioned they were updating their online shop. I would highly doubt online sales are going away. May find out soon enough with the Orin release on Thursday.

It would seem so ... their online "to-go" menu does not have an ordering option right now: https://www.halfacrebeer.com/to-go-beer-menu

Imagine a Benthic release in person where you’re required to buy truffles.

Or where conniving jerks switch out their regular bottles for variants, and harried HA employees don't notice and some people get cheated out of their variants....

I would prefer to imagine a truffle release where I’m required to buy Benthic. “Honey, I bought you some gourmet chocolates, but they forced me to buy the beer in order to purchase them…”

Half Acre keeps using the term taproom on social media, which until recently meant Lincoln, because they called Balmoral, Balmoral. So now, are they going to start calling Balmoral "the taproom"?

I think Half Acre is bringing back lining up for their releases based on all of these tweets and not having an ordering website anymore. It's going to deter me from going there to buy speciality releases which sucks. I enjoyed everything i've consumed during the pandemic in terms of their stouts.

The good news is it isn’t everything as Orin is hitting distribution. But totally agreed it is a huge negative they got rid of online ordering.

I don't see any evidence that things like Benthic won't stay as online releases. None of those releases used the Toast ordering system that Lincoln/Balmoral were using for online ordering. I'm guessing with the reopening of indoor at Balmoral and full tent capacity outdoors they don't want to have to deal with maintaining online orders or they are short-staffed enough that they can't handle it.

It will certainly be less convenient from a purchasing perspective, but even the last 3 or 4 orders I made ahead of time ended up essentially being like I just walked in and ordered. They didn't have my receipt printed out, and needed me to tell them what I ordered so they could pull from the fridges and box up.

Is it the case that HA is not distributing Gone Away in Chicago (Balmoral only) but is in Philly? If so, what’s up with that?

Half Acre doesn't have a brick and mortar space in Philly?

It's probably harder for Philly folks to make it to Balmoral and the amount the kept for Chicago wasn't enough to make sense to distro locally.
Wrong"Half", you're thinking of the "Other" one

Half acre has been selling beer Pennsylvania longer than it’s been selling it to the west suburbs of illinois. HA has ties to philly and it’s probably their second best market

Grow Greater is pretty darn good. Got some west coast type bitterness. Think I’d prefer a Gone Away and this grow greater is a more new school west coast. It’s not clear, it’s obvious a large dry hop was involved
