It's not exactly to-style , so maybe that? Once I mentally adjusted to that, and thought of it (or didn't think about it ) as just a fall beer, I enjoyed it.

Yep. 2011 Altima that my son drives. My wife moved on to a 2017 Maxima. Fast and fun, but not particularly reliable.

Moving on to fresh hops in my glass

Any Total Wine near you? They’ve got it in their chain. The Sierra Nevada locator is not showing that. I think also Market Basket may have gotten it.

Hah! Yeah, I started with hard pear cider and then moved right along into fruit wine and eventually brandies and liqueurs (limoncello, for instance) and am working my way along the path to gin and whiskey.

The main problem is in the length of time it takes to mature in wood (shortcuts don’t work as well… ). Another problem is the landlord wondering whether I’ll ever drink it all! Beer is still my go-to adult beverage, after all, and I’m back to a usual go-to at that:

Black Quad from Real Ale. A quadrupel at 10.5% abv. Pours black with a tan head that recedes slowly to a thin cap and good lacing. Aroma is light with some grape must, dark fruit, maybe cherry. Taste is prune, toasted malt, a grape sweetness, light molasses. Low/med carbonation and creamy feel. Nice sipper on a cool (finally!) evening.

    Cheers Y'all

Right after we finished dinner, we lost power - after the Nor'easter. Naturally.

Still, it gave me an excuse to get the fireplace going in my new home for the first time, while finishing my beer:
