Curious if this bottling line was bought just to bottle smaller stouts? Also curious about the "clean beer" emphasis as well. Old bottling line was for "dirty beer"? haha

I'd imagine its just the latest and greatest when it comes to bottling lines? Never hurts to improve equipment in a world class brewery. I'm sure you can get tax credits as well. I bet you could buy a small house for what this bad boy cost. Smart investment.

 

clean as opposed to sour / wild

 

Meaning, this line will be solely for non-mixed fermentation beers, like barleywine and stout. Unlike their white label beers, for example. I’d imagine they used their current line for both previously, but it would have to be meticulously cleaned so that wild culture of those beers wouldn’t impact them. A possible outcome being these beers becoming infected and with a stout/bw tasting sour.

 

Yep, SBBT is not so popular (sour beer barrel time).

This is what scares me the most about this announcement.

 

No Kidding. I said it a page or two ago as only a half joke. I full expect a 20-40% price increase. I hope I'm wrong. This isn't me feeling SP is max profits or any other cliche nonsense. This is me following trends, following their pricing, and extrapolating.

 

was going to say, there almost had to be separate lines before. seems way too risky if not.

 

Dang I was really hoping for 500ml! After having stouts from anchorage, weldwerks, and private press, I feel like 500ml really hits the sweet spot for me

375 scares me if they follow anchorage prices
