When you google “revolution deep” what pops up is “woods” not wood. I wonder how many people realize the lack of an S. It doesn’t help that the very next word has an s, IE this is the “Deep Wood Series”. Saying that out loud obviously blurs the line between ‘wood’ and ‘Woods’.

Yeah. I think it creates less awkward questions if I tell my friends I’m out on the town looking for some Deep Woods.

It’s always so reassuring knowing that every time I drink a Deths Tar it keeps those pesky skeeters and ticks away.

Had my first 2021 DT on Saturday night. Here's my take:

    • Better than the last few years (w/ the caveat that I did not have any last year)
    • Getting closer to BCBS Each Release
    • More bourbon/deeper oak presence than in years past
    • Still lacks Bourbon whallop of BCBS
    • Greater depth/complexity
    • A little bit dry
    • A bit more oak (tad bit more tanic, too) than I'd prefer
    • No char or bittersweet cacoa/dark chocolate notes like (I, personally, at least) get from BCBS
    • Not as creamy as the 17 or 18 batch, which remans as my favorite to date
    • Drinks easier/lighter than BCBS, which can feel heavy (although not as heavy as a thiccccc stout)
    • Nose isn't intense enough bourbon
DT is solid, and certainly worthy of being in the cellar, and no one can beat the price-to-quality ratio from Rev. If I was going to have a straight up Bourbon BA Stout, I'd probably have a 70:30 split of BCBS to DT. DT still lacks that absolutely intense bourbon that I really dig. But, DT is great and has it's place.

Think I got the last 2 pack cause I checked here after and saw this. Very excited to not have to @GuyFawkes a Rev single barrel crowler

I need to step my game up. Shotgunning mine back-to-back and filming. It'll be better than the Rob Ford tapes.

Has anyone ever tried any BA Milk Stout from Rev?

I'm looking down the line a bit, thinking about how much I want to spend this year on beer. Dark mode doesn't interest me per se, but if they are releasing it I somehow expect that it will be more tasty than I expect. So, just wondering if anyone has any experience with any BA Milk Stouts from Rev.

I didn't love Very Mad Cow back in the day; I found the barrel dominated the base beer. However, this was back in the bomber-in-a-box days before they really started firing on all cylinders.

I did have "Very Special Old Very Mad Cow" on nitro draft in January 2020, and I enjoyed that.

I agree with @GuyFawkes - I wouldn't put too much stock into the older BA beers ... that program is on a different level than it was years ago, so I would go into it with an open mind.

Thanks. I guess what I was hoping was that they had released a BA Milk Stout as part of the draft-only single barrel 'experimental' series you always see on draft at releases. Or, something like that. They seem to do some type of 'test release' to get general feedback before they put something out into a can. At least, that was my impression. So, I was hoping that was the case here, but sounds like not. (Excluding the VSOVMC from this.)

Also: I periodically check Rev's website for what's available to go. It looks like they are now using ToastTab. Don't know exactly when this switch happened, but it had to be within the last few days.

Someone told me that last year's Benthic Release went through this platform, and that it was a mess. Wonder what that means for upcoming rev releases.

I'm really hoping they keep the Deep Woods stuff on their own website.

    Edit: @BeerCruncher any insight here?
