Is it a sweet cherry flavor, or more on the tart side?

I found it to be more tart. It also was very subtle. Not nearly as much cherry as I thought there would be

It was more tart. Think pie cherry. Personally I thought there was a lot of cherry flavor! Tom Foolery, maybe you were drinking it a little too cold? As you let it warm up, all of the flavors open up.

It may have started a bit too cold, but as I drank it, it warmed considerably. And you're right, it was more of a cherry pie flavor. The kicker is, I'm not a huge fan of cherry anything so I didn't have huge expectations. I guess I went in with the mind set that the cherry flavored would be over the top like the bourbon county coffee. That might have been why I thought it was more on the subtle side.

THIS. Opened my bottle with a couple buddies on Friday night, and we all agreed that age probably wasn't going to improve this one. We thought it was great, but still preferred Bramble and Coffee to this variant.

Have you had Cherry Rye before? If not, why would you age it? You would have nothing to compare it to. Taste is subjective....you might love it fresh, hate it fresh, love it aged, hate it aged..

I don't see it changing much over the next 6-12 months, so if you need to wait that long to share it with someone, I recommend waiting. Serve it a little below room temperature, the Cherry is very subtle if its too cold.

I had the Cherry a couple weeks ago and thought it was great. But, I think it would be best to drink it with a year on it.

Bramble had the same " over hyped, over rated" Bullshit talk when it came out too. I drank 2 Bramble's in the last two months, and it's drinking like a champ.

IMO, the Cherry could be the same way. Find a buddy with one, share one fresh and share the other in a year!

I tried some older Weyerbacher Raspberry Imperial Stouts....not a good idea to age them...they were terrible...couldn't even get the glassware clean enough to re-use the bottles. And Weyerbacher makes great stuff...

    I say drink it now!

My girlfriend loves Cantillon and every other sour I've put in front of her, but that's another discussion.
