Dark Lord Day (2021)

Crushing mass was fantastic as you’d think.
Hoping this years ba blot out the sun isnt as bad as last years. I don’t remember if it was 2 or 3 years ago when I grabbed it last but it was enjoyable.

 

Not having had Cafe Deth recently, I find that hard to be true unless Cafe Deth is crap this year. Crushing Mass tastes like any other well done barrel aged coffee stout, but nothing new or ground breaking. If you live in a beer desert and can’t find BA coffee stouts, this will be the best beer you have this season, if you live near a Chicagoland Binny’s, it’s more of the same.

 

I wouldn’t rely on Untappd to be determine what you drink. Cafe Deth never disappoints.

This is great weather for Dark Lord Day. I don’t know how they always know when there will be DLD weather in advance.

Gotta say. Waiting in line in your car is a million times more frustrating than waiting in line with a beer.

 

I was thinking the exact opposite. Got there at 1120 through line 1135. Got what I expected for 2021 2 adult size and 1 ctm and 1 handjee. 2020 got 2 rari and hellaboozee and key rock so overall happy happy happy

 

I sat on the parkway for 20 minutes. Once I got in it the parking lot was great. 2 adult size, 1 handjee, 1 chemtrail. Snagged a 2020 chemtrail and hellaboozie too so good deal.

 

are you guys proxying or how are you ending up with 6 variants? thought it was 2 packages per person..

 

They sold 2020 packages that I didn’t buy. Then at the merch booth today they were selling 1 2020 plus a mystery variant, which I did buy two of.

 

How much were those?

 

$80 so regular cost. Was a no brainer for me. Also it’s walk up, you didn’t need to buy a package to shop at the tent.

 

Anyone have the 2021 variant bottle counts? I saw chemtrail count was 3000

All of them are 3000. Scaled down quite a bit this year.

Was the tent line pretty smooth, or should I expect a DLD shit show tomorrow and wear my wading boots for the porta potty backflow?

 

Was painless for me but could see it turning into gong show. They took orders at one end then you picked up and paid at other. But the order in which you selected did not match the order they were calling. Was all over the map. Some people waited 2 minutes, some were at end waiting 20 minutes. Line was a constant 15ish deep so didn’t get too much messier than that but on a weekend, no idea what line will look like.

On the plus side the employees recognized the issues that were occurring so hopefully will be cleaned up for tomorrow and later days.

 

Super easy pick up (1:30p), only one package for me: 2 adult size, Handjee/Chemtrailmix. After pick up, pull around to the lot in front of the pub for merch and beers to go. I went with the Aggromaster and the grab bag (2020 + mystery variant for $80) was a no brainer. Pulled a Keyrock. Pretty pleased overall. Good luck to those still to pick up.

Dreary, chilly, just missing the bottle share, debauchery, mayhem and music. Hope for next year.
