Yesterday’s thread was started quite late even to US eastern time standards to the point that @Roguer himself had to kick it off.

Different tune today and I have decided to open it by 11:30am GMT+1.

Chimay blue. Letting it warm a bit as it sat in my fridge for a while now.

    Cheers!

Thank you @Shanex for kicking things off this morning at a proper time. I dig your selection. I saw the absence of a thread yesterday, but my beer of choice was hoppy and more appropriate for a lunch pairing. This coffee barleywine blend is hitting the spot this morning, 3 + years later.

Full review in the Cellar Review thread, and excellent resource for those wanting to learn more about how various beers are holding up overtime. Cliff Notes version, this held up better than expected (26 months past recommended drinking), mouthfeel became creamier and fuller, aroma and strong coffee taste took a hit, with minor oxidation and pepper developing. Nonetheless, I am really enjoying it, though the alcohol strength is making me wish I only poured half out instead of 80%. May need a nap after this.

Before I jump into the two 1970 music selections, just sending out well wishes and hope to see @vabeerguy back soon. He may still be away for his BIL's services. My condolences to you and your family.

Good morning BAs! Starting this morning the same way I finished yesterday - “Malted Milk Ball”(2020), a BBA Imperial Porter from Perrin Brewing Co., Comstock MI:

Poured at 58° after warming up for about an hour on the counter…held up well overnight, corked and purged, in the fridge. First pour pic at sunset over Tropicana Field yesterday:

Plenty of bourbon, chocolate and vanilla…tastes like a boozy malted milk ball candy. Rainy day as I work in the condo today. Cheers and have a great Thursday y’all!

No problem, there is quite some flexibility about when to start WBAYDN, the rules are not to start it before midnight Pacific Time so to let the previous thread die a bit. Past this hour nothing is set in stone, personally I think 7-8am eastern time is about reasonable if someone has the time and a beer in hand to do so.

Glad that you liked the music selection. Cheers!

    Good morning BA
I drove 400 miles yesterday, mostly in rain and dark. I had a nice visit with family, but didn’t get in until midnight and then couldn't sleep. Decided on an extra cup of coffee this morning.
I had been passing on these when I spotted them, not realizing that the numbers are just a batch code. I bought this bottle in Indy even though the label was showing some wear. It's decidedly not fresh, but I'm happy to have tried it.
    Cheers all!

Drinking SN Dankful IPA. I missed this beer in the first go round, so I was happy
to be able to get a sample from the recent SN Hoppy Pack.

Good morning, BAs, and thanks @Shanex for kicking off today's thread! Starting it with a lunch-time IPA yesterday felt weird. :grinning:

I wish I could bottle today’s weather, phenomenal for November in these parts. Cheers from Hyannis, Ma.

I cleaned my grills, emptied my gutters, blew the leaves off my back yard and reset my bird feeders. It’s so nice out I’m looking for things outside to do. Had to check in on the baby(s) before I restarted.
Kind of a crummy picture, I had to sneak it in

T R I B E Good day to you! Cheers @Shanex for kickin' todays thread off. My plans for a bit of outdoor work have been dashed 2 days in a row now due to shite weather. Brrrrrr cold, snow and mega windy which means wind chill factors. So I shall tarry not and dive right into the fray here with a Zipline Imperial Toffee Stout. It is outstanding. Seems like a good late morning beer. Great to be here and I'm busy entering/rating more gorgeous beers. Cheers folks! Lookin' good out there. Keep on smiling!!

Last bottle of 2020 Willettized. No coffee is present but there's plenty of boozy rye and oak which is right by me.

Going for it on fridge drink or pack day …lunch beer while I slowly toil - Cycle’s “R3 Rare Dos” (2021) imperial stout aged over 3 years in Heaven Hill barrels:

Recently released and I purchased at the brewery. Dear at $32 a bomber, but worth every penny…

Poured at 57°. Black with ruby edges body; dark brown mixed bubbles head with a fairly quick cap that leaves a small island of micro dots, a solid ring and bands of soapy bubbles/clingy lace upon agitation; heavy legs sheet the glass. Nose is chocolate with bourbon right behind; oaky vanilla as beer warms. Sweetish bourbon upon entry, followed by oak, caramel and old leather; sweet chocolate and a touch of char; oaky vanilla middle; baker’s bittersweet chocolate and whiskey aftertaste. Heavy minus body (not at all adjuncty); light carbonation; some warmth in mouth from 13% abv; dry oak barrel tongue coating. Overall, a perfect marriage of barrel and base; earthy leather dry yet sweet whiskey/chocolate finish/linger. Sublime.

    4.5 | 4.5 | 4.75 | 4.5 | 4.75
    Score: 4.65 rDev 0
I added beer to database/first review

    Cheers y’all!

    Hello everyone Advocates!
As soon as I got back from work I recently had a beer that was given to me by a couple of friends who came to visit last week and I was really curious about.
This is a Lichtenhainer, a style that I honestly know very little about and that I don't think I have already drunk.
So before opening it I went to browse the main features before opening the can.

Briefly: it is a high German fermentation, which takes its name from a small village just outside Jena, in the Land of Thuringia, Germany. It belongs to a historical style that is mentioned in the BJCP among the category of experimental historical beers and the characteristics are substantially stated are:
    - light beer in the alcohol content, around 4% alc.
-Slightly bitter, with IBU between 5 and 12
    -specially acidic, tartaric
    -smoked.

    This is the
Bonavena Brewing (Campania, ITA) - SO CLINCH - Lichtenhainer (4.1%)

33cl tin ("Best before: 07/22)", no great olfactory notes are released.
When poured it is of a beautiful golden color, limpid and clean.
Minimal foam (despite a second rather vertical pour).
In the glass a delicate lactic note and light spicy notes are released (I don't know, but a nice scent that reminds me of cardamom or similar).
In the mouth, immediately astringent entry (no half measures): short but intense note of lactic acid, before a slightly smoky note reminiscent of a bread crust which, while emerging and amplifying more and more at the same time as the beer the temperature in the glass is diluted, however it is not comparable in intensity with that of a Rauch.
The lactic astringency reminds me of that of a classic Berliner Weiss (basic, without additions), but here it is much more intense, albeit short.
The skilful use of wheat not only helps to tone down, but almost develops a second drink, just as short.
Super smooth body, fresh, thirst-quenching and characterized by a very pleasant carbonation (the beer in this can in a splendid state of form).
Beer that on impact is truly impactful with that lactic note of considerable astringency then weakened by slightly smoky notes and toasted cereal notes that soften the drink that flows lightly on a fresh and smooth body: short but intense.
    VERY particular.
    Sláinte !
    Cheers !
