Alrighty. Opened a 2017 (19.3%) BT as it was the closest to the abv of still BT I could get.... Side note im proud that I am drinking through my BT bruery beer.

Major differences that I could note:

Still BT: thicker mouth feel, way more oak (think about your favorite wine that shines with oak), it has the lighter fruit flavors (bright berries/not citrus). I enjoyed this version. I also enjoy wine that has a solid oak presence. Would I pick this over regular BT? 50% of the time.... It's got a ton of wine things I like.

Regular BT: bourbon, lighter mouth feel, heat on the end. The heat comes from bourbon not like ewwww this IPA is hot and gross. The darker fruit from bourbon/oak. The complexity from bourbon. Also, there is oak that also lends itself to darker fruits. I sipped this and went yeah there is a lot more complexity to this. Also, darker in color.

TLDR: celebrity death match. Still BT vs. BT

Word of warning: The Bananswer (at least the cans) is a gusher. Hope it’s just overcarbed or has a nucleation issue (like Brue Crumbs had) rather than an infection… tastes great though!

    But who won!?!?

Pretty cool, thanks for sharing! Remember 2018 was the year they reformulated to a thicker body, and if Still was three years in aging it was probably still the new recipe. If you felt like a round 2 you could do an 18+ vintage to try and control for body and focus on the oak/barrel?

Opened a 2016 just to check. The 2016 is closer to an old ale/Barleywine. Color is pale(r) than the newer BT...bridging towards Barleywine/old ale in color as well. Flavor is once again closer to that old ale/Barleywine. A good amount of bourbon. Oak is there but no where near as much as the last two newer versions. If anything I like the newer version of BT more!

Flavor for the newer versions of BT are crazy closer to a stout. I would have never thought about actually looking further back. Good call @ernh.

TLDR: nah dawg not opening any moar BT.

I'd like to hear more people's experience with this. I want to buy a few cans but I can't pick anything up until February.

Opened a bananswer last week and it opened fine. Guess i will have to open more for research purposes. That beer is amazing

Have to disagree with this month being disappointing..as i said bananswers is amazing. Save me a slice as well. Pecan make it if we pie wasnt as much my thing but JR Harris was good as well.

Id like for there to be a month where i didnt care for the beer because my wallet hurts lol but Bruery has been stepping it up month after month

I finally got to try Pecan Make It. I appreciate your earlier post on it, but I was really not feeling this one. I don’t get the Anni base and it just has a weird almost industrial taste to me. I can’t place it. Just not enjoyable. I would certainly agree Save Me A Slice is the hands down winner. Disappointed since Pecan Make It is a HS beer.

So everyone is equally unimpressed with the Cybeer Monday sale? Anything that anyone was excited to see again?

Unfortunate name, and unfortunately uses dulce de leche yet again like the last 200 pastry beers. One of those adjuncts that I simply never have picked up in any instance the Bruery has used it.

I mean, there's a ton of stuff there I love, I just don't need more. If I was a newer member I bet I'd have a field day.

Could be. Timing feels right. I'm trying to figure out what candy bar that is though... What has coconut and marshmallows? Mounds sorta I guess? But then you'd have expected a name like "This Don't"

So is The Grindfather the same as The Crumbfather, just with coffee added? Anyone try it?

I have been hoping for a rebrew of icky thump. If it is close to that I would buy as much as possible. I haven't tried it yet, just hoping. Also I really enjoy how The Bruery has used strawberries so I am excited for the strawberry WC.

Maybe the adjuncts are similar, but the bases are totally different. I haven't tried Grindfather, but at 10-ish% I'd expect it to be in line with their other monthly pastry stouts.

Crumbfather was 15%, so maybe SHIT or maybe a one off brew/blend. Probably a lot more barrel and more boozy.
