Maybe in a couple of years they will figure this out?

I can't help but wonder for a typical beer consumer (i.e., a non-BA beer consumer) if seeing the volume of 'old' beer sitting at the beer retailer will be a turn-off for purchasing this product. Maybe the mainstream craft beer consumer might think: if there is some much old beer still around maybe this beer is not so good?

    Cheers!

I only started drinking BCBS (and some of the variants) since 2015, and I agree:

    * 2015 is my favorite BCBS vintage
    * 2015 Regal Rye is my favorite variant

But 2019 Reserve Rye gets a special shout out for being my favorite since. I only got to try a 5oz bottle pour of it in a bar, but it was fantastic. Well, so was 2015 Rare which I also got a bar pour of ($15/2oz).

Fix the pricing (and the bottle format too, just do normal sane 12oz) and I'd gladly indulge, GI. For the price of your bottle I can get 4 packs of Boulevard high test stuff for a few dollars more.

Beer store today had couple variants but no regular 2021. But like 12 bottles of 2019, thought that was odd too. Probably should have bought one at 12.99

I'm a beer/wine manager for a grocery chain in Texas. I got 5 cases of base 21. Hardly touched in a week. How many do you want? That's how many I'll sell you................$12.99.......

Stories like this surround every BCBS release, although their frequency is dropping. It's the last nationwide annual stout release that still garners a bit of attention from customers. Some shops still think it's an incredible rarity, and use it to prop up other sales. As there are so many 2020s sitting on the shelf, it's clear it's not a rarity anymore. In this case, it sounds like they were trying to clear out old stock by exploiting interest in the new product.

It was ~2018, but a local store was requiring the purchase of two Goose Island 6-packs in order to purchase a single bottle of BCBS.

FWIW, I just picked up a Missouri rarity that had me chasing trucks just five years ago. Another former rarity that was even more difficult to come by is still sitting on shelves. It's a crazy time for beer.

Local Costco has Boulevard's Magic Drip on close-out for $4.97 per 4-pack. I understand it's close out, but what an insane deal. Even at $15 per 4-pack, it's a solid deal.

All the California people on here certainly know the base stout has sat around since 2017.
Do you guys think it's because of a combination of just way better BA Stout at our disposal now and the fact they sold out to InBev.
Supporting this is pretty much supporting the threat of taking away shelf space from the already small number of independent beer makers at grocery stores .

I'm just curious as to peoples opinions . I know that people still love GI and supports BCBS and am not taking anything away from the quality of it

I bought one bottle of the standard 2021 BCBS ($11.99) last week at a large SC liquor beer store. No variants were available.
On Monday I saw more ($12.99) plus cola, cherrywood and caramella ($18-24) at a high end grocery store and left with a bottle of the caramella ($17.99). All bottles were 2021 except the 2020 green labeled caramella.

Lol at the amount of time wasted and posts/threads devoted to teaching folks how to upload an image to BA. Nobody has ever been able to explain why it has to be this way.

Purely speculative at best, but after the buyout they said their goal was to keep BCBS on shelves year around. They sent shitloads out to markets I imagined that they saw as cash cows but were unsure about. Here, those first years, they dumped so much it wouldn't surprise me if there is some yet available at a few of the stores where as recently as 3 years ago (I'm out of loop now) they still could be found.

It boggles my mind that this is so hard to find in mid-Michigan. Granted it seemed more available this year than in years past, I don’t see this sitting past the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

I think it's just a case of the market having generally caught up and surpassed in terms of quality, and the market for these high ticket beers tending to favor local options.

At below MSRP, I can't even begin to explain how quickly that would sell out in 90% of this country. Just amazing. $50. WTF!
