Late to the party but had my can of Phantom Unicorn this evening & give it 2 thumbs up. Solid re-introduction for PW's barrel aged beers. Looking forward to the Binny's collaborations.

I bought a single and, as is my wont, snuck it into a movie.

No visual cues, of course.

I'm not a big wet hop IPA fan, but I liked this one; it wasn't the kind of dank sweat sock this type of beer often evokes for me, it was balanced & nice. Reminded me of Permanent Funeral, for some reason!

Anyone had Not Far From the Tree? An apple kolsch sounds interesting to me, but it has no ratings here and I don't trust Untappd to be a reasonable arbiter for an experimental kolsch.

 

I liked it. I do enjoy a kolsch…the apple was pretty subtle.

 

anyone try this batch? First one was revelatory. Second one was just fine. I’ll probably snag one if I see it because good lord maybe exclusively drinking high ABV stouts is bad for you?

 

Excuse me, but we drink high ABV barleywines, too.

I’ve tried all 3 batches (only half a can of this latest batch so far) and haven’t noticed significant variation—they’re all great. The second and latest batches didn’t take me by surprise with how unique a hop profile the beer has like the first one did, if maybe that’s what you’re noticing?

 

Intrinsic Duality No 1 - Imperial milk Stout aged 36 months in bourbon barrel and Intrinsic Duality No 2 - barleywine aged 36 months in bourbon barrels showed up at my downstate Binny's today.

EDIT- I just went with the barleywine. Was $8.99. Guessing the other is too. Also,these are Binny's collabs. Was surprised to see March and April '21 canning dates on these respectively.

 

Haven’t seen those Binny’s collabs closer to settled country.

did finally find LKvCryo after looking at 3 or 4 stores. Hits the spot. Not the magic that the first batch, but better than the last batch I had.

pairs well with the smell of the Dal Makhani I’m cookin’ up to beat this cold snap.

 

TBH, I was surprised I got my hands on it before I succumbed to dysentery.
