Do you get Executive points if you get the ink at Costco?

 

Surprisingly no buzz around here about the Cuppa Neat R.V.W that released yesterday

 

After numerous strike outs I've pretty much given up on chasing any of their special releases. I was occupied when this one popped up and didn't have a chance. I live within walking distance and while I've enjoyed many of their past offerings, I think the hype these days is a little out of control and not really warranted.

 

While I agree mostly with you about their adjuncted Cuppa offerings, I enjoy the base stout and think these barrels might shine.

 

Have they ever released the base stout for the cuppas? I have only had a few (barrel aged and non), and I don’t taste anything besides the adjuncts and sugar.

 

I’m very interested to see how people perceive RVW. No clue what to expect after the latest BA Cuppa series.

 

Also, in an effort to beat a dead horse, does this have coffee? I know they said no adjuncts, but it's the concept of Cuppa that it always has coffee, hence the name?

 

I thought this years ba cuppas were great. Not as good as the two previous years but still well made.

There is no coffee in this but I agree with you.

 

Someone asked this on the facebook and they responded saying there is no coffee. "A more traditional barrel-aged stout"

Haven’t been to Maplewood in a bit, but had a haircut in the hood so decided to stop by to try Neat and pick up some things for the weekend.

Haven’t had a Cuppa in a bit (I think this is my first BA one?). Either way, the lack of adjuncts (sans lactose, I assume) make it much more approachable. This is really good. Still a bit sweet, but not over the top. Tons of chocolate and barrel on the tongue.

Royal Tannenbaum (“festive red ale”), not so much. Muddy, reddish, sewer brown color. Hops seem to completely fight with the malts. Maybe it’s the spruce, but I definitely enjoy spruce in other beers and this one just doesn’t work.

Oh well, 50/50 ain’t bad. Back to the home office.

 

Picking up my Cuppa Neat tomorrow so hoping I have time to stop in to try it on draft before I hit Rev

 

Oh my goodness, is Cuppa Neat an amazing beer or what? On the short list for best beers of 2021
