    Duuude. That's epic.

Your direction had me re-assessing my phone: Android users using Google Chrome has an option to 'Find on Page' in the ellipses on the top right. Perhaps this same feature is on Apple for Google Chrome as well...?

I do not have experience with other mobile browsers, so I can't speak to the functionality there.

This will make navigating pages so quicker, and easier to verify beers being added are not duplicates. Thanks, @Rug .

Happy to help! I should note I was using Safari on my iPhone, but that's the default for Apple users so that process should be the same for everyone

FWIW -- I notice that if I click Last Active on a brewery's home page it jumps to the oldest first -- click again and I get newest. Some sort'a glitch?

    Android phone, BTW.

Not a glitch. As designed. Last Active defaults to descending (most recently active first), clicking the column will reverse order, and so on.

For the time being, why not add it as an information only column. "Last rated" doesn't need to impact the order but having that info would at least let us know which of these top rated beers are actually active. Let's see what that tells us. Maybe there's an epiphany waiting on the other side.

Will inactive beers eventually become retired? Or does it require an affirmative edit? If so, the inactive list may turn into a purgatory waiting room

But I'm getting the oldest active in my first click. I click again and get the most recently active. Should it descend from oldest to newest?

Wait a minute -- here on my desktop I see that newest is automatic when you go to a brewery homepage -- I need to check my mobile to see if that's how it's working there.

    Just some potentially constructive feedback:

    - When you go to a beer style page, the list states "ordered by # reviews" - this is not appropriate with the update.
    - I get why you have activity as the default organization for lists in order to generate the impact you want, but personally I'm not a fan of this as the default. I think it's more appropriate as a sorting feature to utilize. In my eyes, recent activity is not really more useful than alpha order in a brewery beer list or number of reviews in a style list. It's too chaotic as a default... even if that's the point. I just went to the BA Munich Dunkel page and the first beer that comes up is a beer with 1 review (from today) in Virginia. I'm not sure how this will be of any use to me... and the beer scene has moved to a landscape where this is more useless than useful.
    - "Active", "inactive", and "retired" is an awkward and unintuitive sorting when taken as a group. The brewer of that Munich Dunkel above has 3 inactive beers and 1 retired beer. You've provided the way to decode this info, but you are better off having a system that doesn't need decoding.

    Easy fix. Done.
None of these terms are really new. Their use is simply a bit more normalized now and highlighted by this update. "Current" is now "Active" (who we refer to beers that aren't retired), "Inactive" is a new tab/group of beers, and "Archived" is now "Retired" (how we've always referred to discontinued beers).

    Thanks for the feedback!

@Todd -- okay, I see how it's laid out on my phone now, just wasn't as obvious as on the larger screen. :+1:

The current thinking is that if a beer hasn't been rated in over two years and is appearing on a top rated beer list...it's probably no longer accessible and shouldn't be on the list.

@Todd Just some constructive feedback before you touch the Top 250 list. As someone who's been ticking it (244 done, and 4 are in my fridge), I probably wouldn't be too happy if it became too dynamic and always changing. If it kept changing more than it already does, I would honestly stop pursuing it and use BA much less. I'm pretty sure 99% of all the BA Top 250 tickers would agree with me here. Maybe a list of all of BA Top 250 (Retired, Inactive, Active) and a separate Active BA Top 250 would be better. For us tickers though, a more consistent/constant list would be preferable.

As noted above: "will remain inactive until rated or retired," which could be a manual or an automated task (if needed). For now, it's really nice to be able to break them out. Very insightful, while also keeping the main list clean.

Still liked the Alphabetical as the default also like the (new) last rated . We look to a brewery for reviews/ratings of beer mostly by Alpha… by phone or laptop.

Just looked, & "Last Active" seems to be the default. I'd rather have "Name", alphabetically, be the default .
Seems as though that would be easier, especially for new users, or infrequent ones making a return visit.

You can easily get it alphabetical with one click. Todd has this as the default right now to get people to see the new feature and provide feedback. I think the ease of which one can set reset it to alphabetical (had to do this for myself a couple hours ago) makes it not a big deal.

Looks good Todd. One thought. If I sort the list by something other than last active, navigate to specific beers page, then use the back button to get back to the list, it defaults back to last active. Would be possible to go back to the list I was last using instead? Thanks!

As someone who also likes to tick the Top 250….and I agree with you, don’t like it changing too much too often…I really don’t see this update affecting the Top 250 all that much. I just went through the top 100, and even beers that haven’t been brewed in awhile or super hard to get (SR-71 for example), was rated as recently as November. With the two-year thresh hold to make a beer inactive…I don’t think this will really affect the list too much. And like Todd said…if no ratings for two years it may likely be retired, but still would need manually done…it’s not just automatic

My two cents - appreciate the fresh ideas and attempts to keep the site from growing stagnant.

    1. I prefer the default sort to be alphabetical rather than last active.
    2. It'd be nice to see Active, Inactive, Retired, All (not married to this) and some flavor of all the beers not 'Retired'. Not really sure what you'd call this (Active springs to mind, but obviously, that's already taken under the new system.

Anyway, just one man's opinion. Keep up the great work.

It's not something that I can specifically support at the moment, but on my macOS/Safari combo it's keeping the sorting when I go back.
