I'm hooked on Brooklyn sorachi ace and funkwerks Saisons. I never liked the style at all until I found these. I wonder if this is a beer advocate turning point for me....

Not surprised you eventually found one or two that clicked with you... the saison style is open for wide interpretation. It's not a style one should give up on after not liking their first or second. Keep trying, I'm sure there are others.

Love Sorachi Ace. I'd recommend Ommegang's Hennepin as another great entry into the style if you haven't tried it yet...

Also try Boulevard Tank #7 and Saison-Brett. Trinity from Colorado Springs and Hill Farmstead make great saisons as well, but you will have to trade your left nut, and wife, along with your 401K for HF as so it seems lately.

same thing happened to me . had my first cantillon last weekend and it rocked my world. totally eye opening and pallet expanding. I've spent this week geeking out on Orval and saison DuPont. (oh and might have had a few HF Anna and Arthur).

That may be true for the limited releases but beers like Anna are easy to get.

Just be wary the slippery slope that is Shaun Hill's saisons....

I basically have never had a sasion i didn't like. Although there's lots of variety it seems like an easier style to get into to me than some...
But its great that you found some that appeal to you. I'd say try every one you can find....

Try Victory Helios, super cheap and even has a little brett character to it.

Lost Abbey Carnevale. such a great Saison that gets overlooked.

Lavery Liopard Oir (Brett bottle conditioned saison) was a great freaking beer.

Yeah man, I think Sorachi Ace is a very agreeable saison that's also a good representation of the style. Hennepin, while really great stuff and being pretty representative of the style, can be a bit much if you're not ready for it. Personal opinion.

Try Goose Island Sofie if you can, too—excellent example of the style that is, in my mind, incredibly hard to dislike. Some people say it's kind of boring, but personally I think if you sit and let it unfold some of its subtleties, there's so much more going on than you realize at first blush.

Bruery Saison Rue, Smuttynose Big Beer Series Saison and GI Sofie are a few of my favorites.

THANK YOU. I don't get it either, personally, but y'know everyone's different I guess.

I think that dude was in the serious minority when he posted his feelings on Sofie, though.

Big fan of Le Merle from North Coast. On the higher end of the abv scale but damn tasty.

Sorachi Ace is unique, with its lemongrass flavor.

If you like strongly flavored saisons, be sure to try Boulevard Saison Brett. Indeed, if you like unique flavors, try the Allagash beers--not sure any are saisons, but all are Belgian-style and uniquely flavored--no mediocrity allowed.
