If you get to try it and you have a similar experience, you would definitely like my post and more. The beer is just plain nasty.

*** New English Strong Ale ***

Just finished a bottle of Boulevard's Collaboration No. 3 (with Pretty Things) Stingo English-Style Ale. I thought it was pretty good, here's my review: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/423/83897/?ba=bluejacket74

I should have another review or 2 on here in a little while. Happy NBS everyone!

Very nicely done. You can definitely appreciate the refermentation with champagne yeast, maybe even more so than the bourbon barrel-aging (?) - the champagne esters (?) fill the mouth, while the bourbon slides along the bottom of the palate...

A great second new beer for the day. Cheers! :grinning:

    *** New English Porter ***

Well, it's a porter brewed with lambic yeast. 3 Fonteinen certainly has an interesting brew with their Zwet.be: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/2216/63971/?ba=bluejacket74

I liked it, it's not every day you see a porter that has some tartness to it!

I'll have another review on here in a while, I'll make sure to post the pics of all of them in today's "What are you drinking now" thread.

    *** New Smoked Beer ***

Just finished a bottle of Alvinne Chelmsford Oak Smoked Porter. Too bad I didn't notice any smoke in the brew: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/6288/57950/?ba=bluejacket74

It wasn't a bad beer, but of course I was disappointed when I was drinking a beer that was labeled as being smoked, and then I didn't notice any at all. Oh well, it happens.

Greetings fellow NBSers! I've kind taken a break from reviewing the last couple of months, but fear not I've drinking plenty of new brews. I've been keeping an eye on my favorite BS thread and it looks like y'all have been having some tasty brews too. We're coming up on the darkest day of the year here in the Fourth Corner, and we've been getting plenty of liquid sunshine. My first entry for this NBS is a tasty Saison (I think, the bartender didn't have any details for me) from a nice brewery over on the dry side of the state: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1396/88085 . Cheers all, and give out some extra hugs if ya got 'em.

I guess we are calling this a wild sour fruit ale.

Mortis Sour Persimmon Ale the 11th in the 12 Beers of the Apocalypse series from Elysian.

It feels out of season to me. This time of year I would be looking for something darker, with some spices in it. Whatever.

Snow last night and snowing right now. I may be "working" at home tomorrow.

    Happy Trails!

A few BAs and future BAs brought over some New Beers today, enough that I cant post one style. Well maybe American Double/Imperial Stout Sunday.

First was Lakefront Fuel Cafe. Lots of bitter, strong roast coffee forward stout. Dark roast malt and light roast coffee dominate. Light body that really is just there to accent the coffee.

Next was a 2011 Lost Abbey Serpent's Stout. Kind of reminded me of Zhukov. LA was a bit more bitter than CCB Zhukov, but the same smooth body that makes Zhukov, well Zhukov. Smooth, but overshone by the next.

2011 Port Old Viscosity. This thing was the definition of smooth, slick, and sweet. The oak aging just gave it a touch of bitter wood to make an attempt to mellow out the overly smooth, slick, sweet, drinkable amazingness. I loved this beer, and it was the highlight of the tasting (thanks OSUBeerStudent)!

Right now Im drinking a Hoppin Frog Mean Manalishi in honor of the fact that me and my cousin just set up a visit to Hoppin Frog, Thirsty Dog, and Ohio Brewing in the same day. Not the greatest, but thats the age talking. Lots of bitter lemon and oranges, with a powdery sweet body.

Seriously? Wow. I'm surprised that this is the FIRST beer we've disagreed on.

I get what you are saying though. I wouldn't want more than one but for some reason, this one is working for me tonight.

Well, as long as I'm jumping back in, it might as well be with both feet. Was going to have a 3rd from Snipes Mountain, but switched it up for one from a brewery that I like over on the Olympic Peninsula: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1387/88092 . Apparently, it's a football reference. Oh well, less than 2 months until NASCAR starts again and Spring Training starts:sunglasses:.

34 degrees in Spokane, with a couple of inches on the ground. Right now, there's just light snow predicted, but the weather witchdoctors are using words like "blizzard" to describe tommorow. Oh, boy...

Tonight's new beer was none other than a Jubel 2010 from Deschutes that I'd stashed for a couple of years. My alma mater's football season came to an end last night in regrettable, yet respectable fashion, so I decided to honor them with something special (to say nothing of my 'hawks, who became the first to have scored at least 50 in two games withn a season in 62 years) :

Rather hot, alcohol-wise but still quite drinkable, and very tasty.
