Ghost in the Machine as we prep a couple tacos. I haven't had the DDH version of this beer but the basic one is outstanding.

School of Brett: Bruxellensis from Lake Effect Brewing. Chicago, IL

Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy, pale, dark yellow color with a strong white head. SRM of 6-7. (4.00)

Aroma: Strong aromas upfront of fruit and brettanomyces funk. The fruit wins out for aromas of citrus and apple. Leans sweet. The funk is rather mild. (3.75)

Flavor: Strong flavors upfront of brett funk, much stronger than the nose. This is followed by a tart fruit bite. Flavors of lemon citrus, orange, and some sour lime and pear notes follow and the sweet fruit cleans off the brett funk. (3.75)

Feel: Body is medium to heavier than expected. Strong carbonation. Finish is strong, slightly creamy, and rather heavy. (3.75)

Overall: A pretty good brett beer. Nice showing of the Bruxellensis. It has flavors of lemon citrus, pear, and apple. Mild Brett yeast funk flavor, but present. Not overpowering in any dimension and drinks fairly balanced compared to some of the other yeast strains. Enjoyed this one. (Final Rating: 3.82)

One of my favorite “off the shelf” IPAs. Only one left in the six pack.

Nice! I might have to pick one up to try it when I visit in March. That used to be a staple growing up there.

    Revisited January 11th, 2022

Clear, golden body with tight, slow-rising carbonation; thick head, white and mountainous in appearance. Excellent smell; spicy hop aroma riding atop a mild malty nose; pine resin and blue spruce. Light malt base carries a moderately spicy and slight citrus-like hop flavor; light esters; mild bitterness. Medium body; gently coarse on the palate; light sweetness upfront with a light dryness at the finish.

This one is a world of difference a fresher version makes with this beer. A fine, balanced American pale ale with nuanced complexity.

Bottle label info: BEST IF ENJOYED BY 11/01/15 - I'm a little late on this one...

Golden hued body, somewhat cloudy, with a thick, sticky, white head. Sweet, funky, grassy aroma; a twinge of citrus. Sweet and juicy flavors; orange; balanced bitterness. Medium-heavy body; wet and juicy with an edge of dryness at the finish.

For being enjoyed almost 4 1/2 months past the brewer's best-by date, this is still a highly enjoyable, hoppy ale. It delivers a mouthwatering juiciness with touches of orange flavoring with a deft touch of hop bitterness to round things out. I'll definitely re-evaluate this one if I come across a fresher sample.

Had a good Tuesday. I was busy all day and had 2 meetings. We moved the old TV to the bedroom and watched MST3K Gamera after work. One of the best ones I've seen for the show. I am still sore from upper body day yesterday so I will go to the gym tomorrow. Definitely going to mtb in the spring. To answer the south park question from @Argail last night, the best character is always going to be Randy Marsh.

The final roast last night from the instant pot was delicious but might have been even better in the slow cooker. Julia was loving it, she is cooking tortellini tonight.

Wicked Weed Pernicious. Looks like I reviewed it in 2016. Wow it was May 31 21 can and it tastes amazing. Like stone ipa but with a bit more tropical. Super dank and dry. Resinous but not astringent. I think this is a go to ipa for me now. I can get it anywhere.

Pretty tasty and creamy smooth pale ale, drinks a bit like a pineapple smoothie. It has a wheat feel and a hint of bubble gum.

May as well keep it all Tampa tonight

I really like this beer and everything I've had from Sweetwater! Reviews of this beer seem to largely skew towards "meh" but I thought it was a perfectly fine and enjoyable pale ale. I think it's almost on par with Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, in my personal opinion!

I love that food! Looks too good.

I was lucky to get some venison sausage last week. That with cheese made my day.
