Had my first ever of these, just my second ever Fat Head's. Really enjoyed it though preferred Fat Head's Head Hunter for a more expansive taste profile. Still a great beer!

[IMG] Tonight's Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup:

    1) Brau Brother Old 56 (4.2%): A light American lager from Minnesota with flavors of crisp pale malts, potato starches, and stale crackers. A smooth, malty finish.
    versus
    2) Bud Light (4.2%): A light adjunct lager from Anheuser with flavors of pale malts and adjuncts. A crisp finish.

    3) Lagunitas IPA (6.2%): Their flagship IPA from California this IPA has flavors of grapefruit, pear, green fruit with a slightly sweet stonefruit finish.
    versus
    4) Lagunitas Stereohopic V3 (7.2%): An IPA from California that is brewed with Citra and Nectaron hops for flavors of mandarin orange, tangerine, and yellow peaches. Some pine.
    (mismatched these two blind)

    5) Sam Adams Winter Lager (5.6%): A Bock from Boston that has flavors of citrus and spices of orange peel, cinnamon, and ginger spices over a bready malt body.
    versus
    6) Breckenridge Christmas Ale (7.1%): A Winter Warmer from Colorado with flavors of woodsy molasses, scotch, and brown sugar. Subtle and earthy.
(2 of the 3 pairs correctly matched blind)
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Winners:

    1) Brau Brother Old 56:
This one has a distinct potato starch flavor, but a smooth malty finish which is nice. A malty lager.

    4) Lagunitas Stereohopic V3
: This one has more orange citrus, pine, and bitterness. Sweeter, but also more bitter and west-coast in my opinion. Lagunitas IPA seemed tart.

    5) Sam Adams Winter Lager: This one has a nice toasty bread and citrus spice flavor for such a smooth finish in Sam Adams fashion. When it comes to malty lagers these guys rarely disappoint.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Have you tried Lagunitas Stereohopoic V3, and do you think it is better than Lagunitas IPA?
Have you tried Sam Adams Winter Lager or Breckenridge Christmas Ale and which did you prefer?

Generally a very nice dark lager, a pilsner per the brewery's description, the beer brings some dark beer richness and lager smoothness to the palate. The sweet flavor is very nice although there is a somewhat harsh bitterness towards the finish. Still, a nice beer overall.
