I mean it’s also leftovers that have been sitting there. Not new releases.

That 2021 BBT glass with the SP lightbulbs has become maybe my favorite glass for big stouts

same here. the design is great (full disclosure: i thought the 2020 BBT glasses were hideous) and i love how big and bulbous it is. leaves plenty of room to swirl and let the beer move around (even fuller disclosure: the ig / internet pours that have zero head on them and fill the glass to the brim cause my piss to boil).

yeah im surprised by how much it can hold! the swirling it in the glass is definitely a bonus too

That's funny, wasn't sure if I was the only one that is loving the glass. It's basically replaced the treehouse glass that I've been using since Monson. Great glass.

For Phil's Untappd rating has bounced like 0.30 today alone. That seems crazy to me.

I was happy to get an extra bottle via trade. Buy the dip!

Not really that crazy, first reviews based on a low count of overall reviews. They have doubled since on-site. I think the reviews still hold true, it’s a big cinnamon bomb, it just depends on your tolerance level and liking to cinnamon. That said I’m very excited to try it!

Phil is 2014 BAA level good for me. Absolutely pumped to have a few bottles and if the cost of admission remains low I’ll likely trade for a few more

this is exactly what our gathering of four said last night as well. The beer is much more balanced than initial reviews gave it credit for

which is fucked because it’s been my experience that most (if not all - but especially StL and specially SP beers) start high on Untappd and then drop after public release and trades start happening. except BBT and the random one-off anomalies.

It's amazing to me that initial low reviews or "cinnamon challenge" comments didn't effect the fact that it sold out in a minute. If this was almost any other brewery, except maybe a few, early reviews like that would have torpedoed the sale. Seems like people trust Cory and the team enough to buy a $100+ package even if reviews are bad. It's a testament to their brand and consistency over time.

well, that and / or it can always be used as trade bait or sold

Maybe you're right, but if I saw a beer with an Untappd rating of 4.2 for $100+ dollars, I wouldn't think that that is worth it as trade bait.

good point. perhaps that harkens back to your sentiment about people trusting SP.

I can only speak for myself, but I bought the package despite the reviews because: I trust SP more than initial set of reviews. It seems like a lot of those reviews came from the same group too, which is always questionable to me. If one person makes a comment on a beer, it could sway others into the same. I distinctly remember a friend raving about a local stout until I mentioned all the butter notes in the back and how bad that was, and it ruined the beer for him (not SP or a St. Louis brewery.)

Plus, I'm happy to have some additional white labels on hand, and my local beer friend will be happy ticking anything: trade bait / hyped or not.
