I've gotten no notice. Plus, what's a little bit worrying, I had them sent to my Bruery trustee. He got his bottles on Friday, mine haven't arrived yet. Giving them until mid-next-week before I start getting worried/emailing...

has there always been a 50% increase in cost for the bottles on shelf verse the futures? I am not familiar with past pricing, but I don't remember them being as high as this year. I understand the reasons for the mark up just wondering if it is always this high or if it was increased due to popularity, encouraging futures, higher cost, etc.

This is from memory of the last release, but I believe I recall seeing it retail from $24.99 to $29.99 on the boards. So yeah, it seemed like it was significantly more expensive most places where it hit shelves.

That is what I remember too. Most being $25, with the grand cru and maybe older EC being more. Which $5 isn't much, however that is a 20% increases. Just curious if the bottles were 20% less (~$15-18) for futures last year. I wonder how much they are selling them to distributors with the mark up we are seeing? Are futures the same price as whole sale? I believe Alpine does this every so often on special releases, but they might also self distribute (don't quote me on that).

Purple wax is EC12. Would love to see a picture of the Grand Cru...as should have left brewery and was not in storage where distributor orders were put together.

You pay half when you order and half (plus tax and shipping) when they're ready. Thinking you forgot to add both payments when coming up with 50%.
Here is what the prices were for futures this year:

I'm guessing retailers didn't get a price break and might even have to pay for shipping on top of those prices like we regular folk did. With that in mind the local markups I've seen are right in line with normal retail markups.

I still laugh that Rebel yell is by far the worst spirit they used and was the most sought after.

most of those bottles cost a total of $20 during the pre-order, in shops they seem to be costing $30, that is the 50% increase I was talking about.

The mark up makes since if the retailers were charged the same cost as the customers during the futures sale ($20ish a bottle).

Is there a color chart for this year? Is it the same as years past? I remember gold was grand cru last year, ec12 was purple and rittenhouse rye was green. Same this year?

Gotcha. I read it wrong. Thought you were saying mail order was 50% less as in half the price. FWIW, shipping added about $3 to each bottle for me. So if retailers paid $23 for the cheapest ones $29.99 would be a 30% markup.

yeah that makes complete sense. I was just wondering if they instead were charging a higher rate for it to be in stores to encourage buying of the futures because that would be an influx of cash ahead of the sale. But looks like their prices just slightly increased, which then caused the retail price to increase more.

Prices were $20/$22+tax through futures this year. However, that's if you pick up the bottles yourself. 50/50 charged me $55 to ship 16 bottles, so even though retailers get a break, shipping still isn't free...

Retailers do not get a break on the Futures price. They get a percentage back from the expected MSRP which is the anticipated mark up. You can see in the Futures post what the MSRP is from FiftyFifty. If retailers are in that zone then they are not making any extra percentage on the product.

    Per their website:

All shipments for on-time paid shipping customers will go out by Tuesday 12/18. After that, shipments will go out again beginning in January. For pick-ups, we ask that everyone pick their bottles up by 1/21/13.
