Had one today too. I bought a case this year. A place by me was selling 4-packs cheaper than the brewery. Couldn’t pass that up. I think I’ve had about 6 cans so far. It’s so good and I love that they keep their big beers/deep woods in 12 oz format.

I’ve refrained from commenting in the spirit of if you don’t have anything nice to say, but since I’ve been singled out, vanilla BCBS is the bar, Vanilla Deth falls well short. Out of the 48 ozs of vanilla Deth I had in cans, over half got drained poured. Only 1 can had balanced vanilla, everything else was not up to snuff.

Vanilla Deth definitely does not hit you over the head with vanilla and is more of a subtle compliment to regular deths tar. It’s an excellent beer. To drain pour it is laughable to me and pretty crazy considering it’s $10+ per can. I’m working my way through a 1/6 barrel of it and getting anxiety the keg is going to kick any day

Exactly, it's a solid beer base. Sure, it doesn't hit you over the head with vanilla, but that doesn't make it a bad beer or a drain pour for that matter. It's not overly sweet, not too roasty, just a well-balanced stout. If you sold this beer 5-10 years ago, people would be losing their minds.

From comments like that, I'd like to hear more what specifically is bad about it. Then again, we all taste things differently.

It’s my least favorite of the entire series despite being partial to that combo. I’m not sure if it’s the base that doesn’t work with the vanilla or something else that throws it off for me, but have long wished they’d introduce a new BA vanilla stout (not Jamo-nilla). I’m not saying it’s not a well made beer, and I did enjoy this year’s ever so slightly more than prior ones. But still doesn’t work at all for me.

I opened my 3rd can of Vanilla Deth last night. It's is a slightly more nuanced Deth Tar. No off-putting flavors, not overly sweet, no in-your-face vanilla, just a well crafted beer where the adjunct actually compliments the base vs overpowering it. I'm assuming anyone who is drain pouring this does not like barrel aged stouts because at the end of the day, this is a slightly more complex Deth Tar!
