I got there at open so I wouldn't miss For Phil. I was soloing it until some kind guys at the bar offered to split it, and I'm very happy they offered to split!

Funny, I was looking around the room for people on their devices, but didn't think you'd match the description since you were checking your device with your wife. St. Louis just amazes me. I have only just met my first BA member local to me, but I seem to run into one on any given St. Louis trip. Next time I'm in town, I'll let people know, in case they want to meet and split a bottle. I just sorta winged it this time. But I've had fun meeting other BAs.

I visited a day early. Damn.

 

Chiming in on the Parfait talk from a page ago as I had my last can to end the evening last night. It’s the only blend I’ve had (blend #3) so it doesn’t hold much weight in the best/preferred blend comparisons, but I really enjoyed the beer.

I bought 4 cans and was very happy I did. Wheelhouse additions for me especially the pecan, cinnamon, and maple. Never found it sweet, but I rarely have an issue with sweetness in this style of beer. I thought everything melded well, but my only negative was that this beer sort of loses itself when it warms. Flavors become dull, blunt. I noticed this the most with the last two cans as I sat with them longer; one shared with a buddy and savoring my last one.

I wonder for those who had it on cask was that an issue, given the serving temp?

 

Loving these random package drops. Morning Vibes might be my favorite non BA stout

 

Drinking one on cask right now. Absolutely get what you’re saying. Not saying it isn’t delicious, but I did enjoy it a bit more when it was cold though. The cask also just blew and they are out of it at the cellar.

This matches my experience, granted - I did have it after For Phil (or at least, half a glass of For Phil). The first sip or two out of the cask engine were good. As it warmed, I found it a little dull.

FWIW, I found the toasted pecans to be a little too dry for me too. I think that was accentuated at room temperature, putting me off further. I didn't finish my glass. I'd like to try it from a can, but don't really want to source a trade to make that happen - too many other things I want to try.

I've only had batch 2 prior to that, so I can't really compare the whole lineup, but I'd definitely order more batch 2 if it was available.

 

I told myself I wouldn’t buy this cellar package. So I followed my intuition and ran errands, stayed busy, saved money.

But when it’s still available at 3?? I mean I had no choice.

 

Surprising it lasted that long.

I did text my proxy in town, but they're out of town. I told her it would probably sell out the first hour. Surprised that was so far off.

Was this one 2pp like last week's packages?

 

No idea. I bought one. For reference I showed up just before 3 and there was still plenty of packages.

 

Since there are some still available, if anyone can grab a set for me I would appreciate it very much!

 

Is Morning Vibes good? I really wanted it when it first released but whiffed. Shortly thereafter I had a few other Vibes and just lost interest in trying to trade for it because they were all too sweet for me, aside from the regular coffee variants.

 

It’s somewhere between Mornin Delight and KBBS for me. Better than MD and not as good as KBBS. MV is not barrel aged, but the maple is, which does impart some barrel flavor. Plus that nice Side project mouthfeel. If you like coffee/maple stouts it’s a must.
