For the FLX crowd, Stopped at Seneca Stag yesterday afternoon. Beautiful place...great job on the building....at this time do not have any of their own beers on tap....all taps occupied by local breweries/cideries....should have their on product in the next couple weeks or so according to the staff.

Definitely looking forward to checking that place out this summer, especially being only like 10 mins from Ardennes.

Oh shit yeah: Gonna be a spot called Lasting Joy Brewing opening in Tivoli, like five miles from Suarez/Vosburgh and five miles from From The Ground. That'll be a real nice little circuit and Lasting Joy is a brand new build on beautiful land so that's got outdoor beers written all over it.

Wow. That's really out in the sticks. Even by central NY standards. What's the scoop about their beer?

Some of the very best mixed ferm shit NY has to offer.

Not quite Suarez level but for sure on par with Grimm, Pantomime Mixtures, Drowned Lands, etc. It’s beer worth traveling for.

Anyone make it to the Weaver Hollow opening last week? Bit of a trek and with a kid on the way my wife isn't really down for a ~5hr roundtrip drive (and to be clear, I don't blame her!). Hate to miss the first few weekends (and the next... two dozen-ish?) but the photos look great and I'm glad Luke's got it open

I'm guessing no cans yet. Can anyone verify? I'm thinking about a trip in a couple weeks, but it would be more likely if I was bringing home some booty.

It’s always been bottles (splitting hairs, sorry) but yeah, I don’t think Luke’s had anything to go since late August

Went to Weaver Hollow opening day, and I have thoughts.

Beer is unreal, obviously. Plenty of draft offerings and even some guest taps. They had 3-4 different bottles to go when I went (as well as bottle pours available) so if you’ve got the time you’ll have plenty to drink.

That said: Their ordering system when I went was a fucking disaster. You order at the bar and they bring to your table. I waited 30 minutes. And this includes a polite “hey… I think you may have forgotten our order?” after 20 minutes. And when I finally did get my beer it was something different because what I asked for kicked. I get kinks will happen on opening day but even after my reminder the bartenders were washing glasses and doing a bunch of random shit besides getting our beers. Been to near 400 taprooms (many on opening day or weekend) and never had any issues remotely like this. Like fucking ever.

Also the taproom is tiny so once the Catskills flood with people during hiking season good luck getting a seat.

Again, the beer is amazing, but I would not be in a hurry to rush back after my experience.

    Couple notes:

    1) Singlecut opening a taproom in Manlius (Syracuse suburb) sometime this year. Syracuse is really starting to get in gear man.

    2) Rising Storm opening a second location in Rochester. Can’t find the article I saw on it but the space is gonna be real big. Not that their current spot isn’t but still.

    3) I don’t know when this happened but 16 Stone (long-tenured brewpub in Holland Patent) opened up a satellite location right in downtown Utica. Overdue for some tomato pie and chicken riggies so I’m sure I’ll check that out soon.

Here at the edges of the Philly suburbs, Radiant Beer Project is proposing to open a taproom in Souderton, PA in the vacant historic freighthouse across the tracks from the defunct train station. The rail line that goes through downtown hasn't seen passenger trains since the 1970's, now its only freight trains. The old station building is the Northbound restaurant.

Radiant Beer Project has been operating as just a beer brand, having it's beer contract brewed. I've tried a few of their beers when they were guest beers at Blueprint Brewing. They've been just okay.

Laurentide Brewing in Penn Yan doesn't get enough love. It's not close to the water, but sheltered in a refurbished carriage house tucked away behind a hotel, off of a one-way street, so you're basically in a little bubble in the middle of the village. The quality, consistency, and commitment to variety are on par, and sometimes superior to the others that have been mentioned. And a tip of the hat to them for caught up in trend chasing (their best beer, hands down, is an ESB), and focusing on making great beer. I'm happy to take the short trip out of Geneva, even though other options are much closer.

The Hudson Valley has been quiet recently but no more.

A Suarez employee is starting his own brewery — Another Moon brewing. Selling out of Suarez and small drops in the HV for now, no word on a taproom, but focusing on saison/mixed-ferm shit with locally sourced ingredients.

Basically it’s the third branch in the Shaun Hill brewing tree.

Make that two HV announcements. Obscure Oscillation Brewing in Poughkeepsie just opened… kinda. They’re open by appointment for tastings as well as growler fills and bottle sales. Not sure what the ramp-up to a full taproom experience is — if any — because these guys are bad at posting any sort of details on social media. Not even an address, though I guess if they’re going appointment-only they don’t wanna post that and have people just show up.

Either way I’ve wanted to try their shit for some time so I’ll get down there soon.

All I really know is from following their Instagram, which is they’re a Belgian-focused brewery whose releases are all in 375s and they’ve sold bottles here and there around Poughkeepsie and Fishkill for a year or two. I’ve never tried their stuff and don’t know anyone that has so I can’t speak in quality but anyone primarily focused on Belgian or Belgian-adjacent beers in 2022 has my attention.

OO is a really small operation. It's just the brewer and his business partner and last I talked to them this is just a side gig for both of them. The brewer's sister-in-law used to live on my block, and he's stopped by my place to drop off growlers a few times. He's a cool dude and very passionate about this project.

I know he rents a small location in city of POK to do the brewing, so I'm assuming he set up something to accommodate tastings. It's definitely not a type of place that you can just visit hence the appointments.

I'm no expert in the style, but I've drank plenty of Ommegang over the years. I think OO's stuff ranks pretty well. He did a Belgian Stout recently that I've been wanting to try. I definitely recommend picking some up or making an appointment if you're in the area, but I wouldn't come to POK just to try them.
