Yeah strange days over the last year have gone through different brewers and idea people and theirs primary focus is hazy and bright colored fruit stuff.

I’ve heard nothing but good about how underrated strange days and Rochester are at that style

I was able to get some the new batch of chur thing and greenway last week at bks. I was very impressed.

Enjoy your new haul from narrow gauge

I sleep on Strange Days because I wasn't a fan of my initial experience. They did a black IPA, but added tea. It seemed like everything had a strange flavor addition. Their new tap list is probably the most trendy in town. I do need to patronize them more in general. Just happy the KC scene is expanding. It's been a long while since I've made it out to Wind Shift too.

FWIW, I do love Pathlight, but mostly go for their lagers or saisons. I have yet to try their annual TIPA release.

Thanks! If you're in the KC area, I'm happy to split some packs sometime. Trying not to stock up on much, but nice to visit different beers. May swing by BKS for a draft pour of Double-Double (my favorite IPA series of BKS beers.) I missed on Greenway, but if it's on draft, I'll certainly order a half pour to see what I missed out on.

Oh really? Do you have a favorite color variant of double double? I’m looking forward to another’s batch of red...

I work at a north kc brewery and my coworker is a haze queen and the more fruity and more sweet it is the better and my recommendations come from her. I’ve never been to strange days

I’m absolutely in favor of splitting packs of Alma mader for bks or vise versa or whatever else comes about.

I really enjoy NG hops and always try to stop when I’m in town. Had a couple BKS brews as extras and enjoyed. I tried to research and couldn’t tell for certain. Is BKS brewery only or do they distribute (can it be found in STL)?

Figured I should circle back around now that I've drank through a lot of my repeat buy cans. It's a snow day here, so let's knock this out before I lose myself in Witcher 3 for the night.

    Photos over the years:

    Emperor Fallen Flag, January 2022:

Cloud City is the only one I have 1:1 in the photos, but it does look like it has darkened a bit. Granted, lighting conditions have changed between photos, but the latest Cloud City was shot after our latest snow storm with lots of natural light. Couldn't get over how that Emperor looked, so had to share it for kicks. Am definitely interested in trying more of the Emperor versions in the future.

After thoughts: I don't regret the order at all, though some of the mystique is gone with new options local to me. That, and as another user mentioned, Narrow Gauge has a slightly more harsh effervescence than some local options. I also get big nutty malt notes at the back, as the tropical fruits fade. As someone who prefers the more soft and creamy NE IPAs, like Tree House or BKS, this is a bit of a turn off, though not a deal breaker.

That said, the Narrow Gauge stouts I've had so far are incredible (Peanut Butter & Stout). Very filling, full, and pumped full of clean flavor. But I have no prior experience with their stouts, so that is completely new to me in '22.

They uploaded Zavtak and it's tempting to finally pick it up. Perhaps it'll survive until my next St. Louis visit.

Thanks all for participating. I'll certainly be keeping tabs on the Narrow Gauge site for future orders. The mixed 8 pack was a fun option to sample more too.

This is not a good batch of Zavtrak. Coffee covers up the other adjuncts and it doesn't have the sweet sticky maple/vanilla of other batches. Coffee flavor reminded of faded coffee as well. Like bottles of Sump that are a year old.

Yikes. I was pretty eager to finally try it, but haven't done anything about it yet. I'll hold off.

    Is it an annual release?

Zavtak has been decent in the past. not my favorite from NG as there always seems to be a lot going on at one time. i really enjoy the Kofe series. keep an eye out for those if you want to try a NG stout besides PB&S. cheers!

Yeah, it should be every year around this time. Some batches have been great, some have been meh. The one year they did 750 ml bottles it was super bitter.

Surprised not to see anyone posting yet about the BA Abeyance release today. Happen to be standing in line right now haha!

It wasn’t a Side Project BA stout kind of crowd but ppl were lined up outside before they opened. By the time the doors opened maybe 30-40 ppl where in line.
