    Sorry to offend .
Ive had Barrelogenesis,Brew 5000, Old Guardian, B.O.E ,Tree of Life and others... you are prolly biased but to me there exists no " best of" just good beer. Why you being combative?

The correct answer is Alderaan Imperial Oat Stout. Per their Beer Archives listing of Small 'N Oats, Alderaan is listed as the base beer for Deth's Tar.

From the link of Small 'N Oats:
Perhaps @BeerCruncher can provide more information about whether Revolution may possibly release this beer in the future.

I'd really love to try both Alderaan and Small 'N Oats for the first time. That said, I also love Deth's Tar and their coffee brewed versions.

If you are from California, they have plenty of options available as non barrel aged "daily Imperial drinkers". California is a land full of beer opportunities! Enjoy local stuff. We are spoiled in Chicago. As you are in California.

Are you near Russian River? If so the porter and quad are what you are looking for. It might not be stouts but they are daily imperial drinkers. Well made craft beer too.

I was at the 2020 Deths Tar preview event where Josh and Marty took questions. One of the questions had to do with the non-BA version of Deth’s Tar. If I recall, Marty (more so than Josh) was adamant about never brewing/releasing Alderaan again. I also vaguely recall it being for several reasons including it not tasting very good, not in the vision of the barrel program, and a waste of beer that could be barreled.

I know this is a problem for brewers.
Most barrel aged beers taste like shit up until that "magic moment" after 8+ months. I just really want non BA stouts from Revs and am being a brat :heavymetal: sometimes i don't wanna smash on a 15% abv beer and just wanna have a 10% abv beer

Rev distributes to California though? News to me. Seems like either way you’d need a proxy.

Sorry Revolution doesn’t agree with your brewing strategy on how to best monetize their resources and their market research of what moves the needle sales wise.

Revolution makes Expedition stout brewed by Bells?:stuck_out_tongue:
The hell you going on about Willis? I love me some Revs and i never pitched my billion dollar brewing strategy on here:sunglasses:
I said it before and ill say again but this time rephrasing: i love revs beers so much that i want non BA stuff ,if it exists, to drown in it.
Stop attacking me im a little feral kitty cat and i scratch

As others have said, you’re not going to find non-BA versions of the deep woods beers because they are intentionally brewed for aging and blending, to the point there’s variable sweet vs. dry components, etc. The closest I’ve had was their Black is Beautiful offering, which I believe was essentially pre-barrel Deth’s Tar blended with Eugene. I still have a can which I should probably crack sometime soon. Which reminds me…

Eugene is an excellent porter in their regular lineup. It may not be the imperial beer you’re looking for, but I hear you when you say you don’t always want that sticky tar and it’s a great offering if you haven’t tried it. Repo Man, a rye stout (not imperial) was also a nice packaged release a couple months ago that you may still be able to get your hands on.

I feel like I've derailed this thresd st this point. Not my intention boys!
The last time i saw dark seas from mission was before Amazon took over Whole Foods at the Pasadena location in 2013. Never seen since.
My point is that i want non BA Stout from Revs no matter what it is. I have Speedway, Yeti, Dark Star , Rasputin here all all day . I just was curious to see if Revs made any Non DW stuff and i REALLY appreciate all your feedback . Its why i keep coming back and contributing my nonsense. Cheers guys!
