@BeerCruncher and Marty/Jim have been pretty consistent in saying they won't be barrel aging any Eugene beers again.

7% beer just doesn't do well in bourbon barrels... and ramping that beer up to 12% just becomes a stout. I'm not sure how far Deth is on the recipe sheet from Eugene, but I wouldn't be surprised if they have a similar grist.

Bean Gene and Blue Gene were great back in the day. I know they had infection issues though.

Hugene would make for an excellent DW release I would think.

Johncy's just north of Iowa City just advertised they got in some Vanilla Deth. Hopefully that's a sign the good stuff will be coming out this way. Could be they're just trying to drum up interest on Revolution coming to Iowa.

Added: Just saw John's in Iowa City is advertising Maple Jacket, SJ and DT so we're getting a pretty good selection so far in Iowa.

For real. That’s what I do. That beer is great for nearly 10 years

It’s been done and it’s fantastic. E. Norma Gene. Don’t think it’s been made in 6 or 7 years.

DB VSOJ Cherry Rye and BA Spindrift.

I really think the online release and draft variants situation has been ideal, I love it. Maybe some more small batch releases of single cans or bombers for stuff between the batch size of Sanctuary and full releases.

Ha, thanks! Completely forgot that name for some reason (was looking up BA Hugene without luck). Checking my Untappd checkins from 2012-2013 finds that I 100% agree with your assessment.

@BeerCruncher I really do appreciate the question being posed, so will expand upon my earlier response.
    • Keep with the trend of minimal adjuncts, lots of straight up BA blends. I do enjoy the occasional foray though.
    • Keep the online releases.
    • Proxies- keep them. I understand not allowing them for limited and/or hyped releases and encourage it despite the fact that it might keep me out occasionally.
    • Keep Fight Club going. Thank you for this.
    • An imperial stout aged in rye whiskey barrels. Pretty please. Ryeway to Hell? Deth by Ryeway? Someone else help me here...
    • More Half Acre BA collabs. These were great. Other Chicago breweries you could do this with?
    • Oh, and a DB Barleywine

How about a collab with Hop Butcher where they do one of their nasty ass over the top imperial pastry stouts and Rev using their barrel aging prowess to balance the thick goop into something drinkable!

Totally late to the suggestion box but here goes:

    1. Play a cover song of old school BCBBW. I'd shit a brick if I could have a shot at Straight Jacket aged in a 3rd use Deth barrel. I feel like I remember reading you did this as a taproom thing (Dethjacket?), but having it in the lineup would be awesome. If it's popular enough maybe you could get really wild and do something like VSOJ aged in DBVSOD barrels or vice-versa. Not sure how much mileage can be squeezed out of a barrel but maybe it could be fun to find out?

    2. Speaking of Straight Jacket try a version aged in brandy or wine (like madiera or port) barrels. I feel like those work great but fly under the radar because people primarily chase bourbon BA beers. The ones I've had from Cigar City and Central Waters have honestly been some of my all time favorite barleywines.

    3. Any time someone on here complains about fruited Deth variants throw their allocation in a box and ship it to me. Also distro all my suggestions to WI too obviously.

If they do something in this vein, I'd vote for Straight Jacket with a Fistmas treatment. Christmas Jacket.
