I'd guess its the other way around?

Sierra Nevada probably sells more SNPA in bottles than all their canned beers combined.

When I see palates of SN at Costco, Total Warm or Safeway, its usually SNPA bottles.

Sure at craft shops, you'll get more variety. But in terms of volume for flagship beers from regional craft/mid major breweries, I still think glass is still pushing weight.

At least in CO, the answer is "yes." Bottles have been dying for a while and many of the places that swapped from bottles to 12oz. cans are now swapping to 16oz. cans. The local section of our liquor stores are now about 1/3 16oz cans. And that number is growing, too.

I like that size, so I don't mind it at all. I do find it interesting, though. Roughly a dozen years ago there were a handful of places using those cans. At the time they were viewed as being a little bit bush league. Now everyone is doing it.

I think the 19-20oz cans are the future (or at least the current growing trend, not sure when it will plateau). Usually around $3.99 per can and usually a familiar quality craft brew. I’m drinking a SN Atomic Torpedo right now and it’s delicious and can’t believe the value. I’ve been more frequently going to these options vs the mixed 6er or single options. Usually the 20oz cans are much fresher, refrigerated, and I’m spending a lot less than typical singles either 12oz or 16oz. My mixed sixers have gone from $16 avg to $30 avg cost in just the last 5-7 years.

Get a case of regular Torpedo for $30 - 35 if you really want value.

Well, if most craft bombers were sold for <$5 the complaints of that bottle format would be minuscule.

I personally like 16 oz cans. It’s about the right serving size for me. And not impossible to drink two of them, if you’re in that type of mood.

The $/oz issue isn’t the fault of the can size, but rather the brewer. They could rip you off in 12 oz cans just as easy.

I don’t miss having those big stupid 22 oz glass bottles everywhere. I love the idea of glass, but practically it’s a real pain in the arse.

My latest haul contains a couple of 440ml cans, that's 15 oz (or 14.9). Interesting, don't think I've had that size before. Guess you can have all the spectrum of sizes and embrace it.

My waistline favors 12oz beers. 16oz is wonderful for average ABV lagers! though.

If I see a 6er of pint cans, I'm gonna choose that over bottles any day, and Hi Wire is great for making their flagships in pint 6ers. Bottles are too heavy loud and yester year for today's shopper. Too noisy in the bin also. My kids used to get embarrassed by the loud noises of all the bottles going in the bin, haha!

I don’t know what rock you’ve been living under but they’ve been the present for the majority of breweries for a while, outside a few of the largest ones.

SPORTING EVENTS, tall boys seem to be more happening and preferable than the yellow beer served in foggy-colored plastic cups. Never was a fan of the yellow beer.

Of course as capitalists we all know where this is headed
The 4x16 will be replaced by 12x4, then single 500s. Pretty sure I didn't give them that idea

Present? Yes, 16s have been around for a while. Actually a long time, as I remember buying PBR tallboys at the EM club on the Navy base for 10¢ during happy hour in the late 60's.

My post was about a local brewery going exclusive 16oz for flagships and seasonal's.

16oz cans have been the preferred packaging format for most craft breweries as of a couple years ago. If you look at the shelves of beer stores most of the beer the have is in 16oz cans. Even grocery store craft is migrating towards this. Calling 16oz cans the future is like calling amazon the future. You local adopting isn’t at the forefront, they’re lagging behind.

6 pack Yeungling tallboys (16's) in most of the Publix stores in FL, as well as 6 pack longnecks.

I love 6x16 …. pizza port does these best

Hate companies that do 4x16 and try and charge the same amount for less beer

That may be your reality on the West Coast... here, 12oz still dominates shelf space in the craft beer section of the grocery stores.

I am unsure of the pricing where you live but in my area the four-packs/16 ounce can prices are high; often higher than the six-pack/12 ounce can prices.

Thankfully there is still plenty of craft brewed beers in the six-pack/12 ounce can format and that is predominantly where my money goes. We all get to 'vote' with our dollars here.

    Cheers!
