Had the dry hopped house lager on tap today, definitely a crushable beer with a nice bite from the hops and not too much sweetness from the malt, I liked it, if you’re a standard lager person, might not fit the bill.

Making the trek to Sandwich tomorrow to get rather Green'd. Any word yet on It's Your Lucky Day - worth a 4-pack? And I loved the Perfect Storm first batch a few years ago, but not so much the last couple of times - is it worth another try?

    Cheers

PS is usually a pass for me. Not that it's bad, but it doesn't stand out in any way. I'd rather spend money on other offerings

I'd also add the OEC lagers out of CT. Coolship Lager is phenomenal.

Heading to TH in 9 days. They have a ton of great sounding IPAs. How fresh/dates are most of them, any insight? TH does hold up better than many other places but with the amount I’ll be buying based on how infrequently I get there any help would be appreciated.

    TIA.

The ipas usually aren’t more than a few weeks old, often less than a week old. I’ve noticed that the core beers still seem to be selling well, even with the plethora of offerings; they’re always a good pickup. I haven’t had a th ipa sit in the fridge for more than a few weeks, but I would imagine they hold up as well as any other.

So, tried an It's Your Lucky Day tonight, good but nothing special. Agree with the previous poster though, this batch of Green is bloody lovely

I’ve come to the conclusion, and I’m far from a regular TH drinker, that when it comes to the IPAs, sticking to the flagships (and their variants) is key. Some of their newer beers are great, duh, but the core group of tried and tested DIPAs seem to be the most consistent and dialed in.

Oh yeah, get the lagers too. Not only are they fantastic but the price point is great.

Cosign this. If you rarely have the opportunity seems like sticking with the dialed in cores is the way to go. Had some new ipas last time I went. They varied from ok to really good, but even the juice project, which was certainly as advertised, couldn't beat boring old Green. If you're getting up there a bunch I could see mixing it up. Then again even with other half, which I get fairly regularly, I only get the core stuff or things (collabs usually) expressly recommended by people on these boards.

Anyone have thoughts on the 2/25 batch of Haze?

I swear it tastes like VH from 3 years ago. Or even the Peach Hazy they have on draft sometimes. My palate isn't the best and I don't have Tree House all that often but it's really, really damn good to me.

As far as lagers go, I tried the Amarillo Trail on draft and was immediately sold on it. Tree House isn't making the best (American-made) lagers out there but they're definitely consistently solid. I love seeing all the different styles they always have available.

Thanks for the answers @Mgh2001, @guinness77 and @stairway2heavn.

I have previously dabbled in the one offs and newer labels and have almost always been happiest with their core beers so that’s where I’ll mainly spend my money. That and the large amount of lagers they’ve currently got available.

Just found out BTs is closed on Mondays. That was our lunch plan. Any food lunch spots you’d recommend? We will be heading towards New Haven after leaving TH if that matters. Thanks!

    Excellent day at Treehouse today.

We got there before noon and it was half the top parking lot. Half hour into it man were they slammed. Had a great time with some friends and family. It is chaotic sometimes between the pours, cans, kids and dogs. Love dogs and I’m a parent. But when we go and not have to worry about either it’s certainly relaxing. I can see why the kid/dog thing is debated so hard. Watched a child stand on a table inside screaming I won! Also some dogs throw some fits. Or the kid behind the canning line putting his hand in between the metal rollers while dad watched and really didn’t stop. Staff there are too good though. I can talk to 10 employees or more and get the exact same professional and friendly service. I could go to another brewery with 10 employees and meet a snobby asshole instantly. I assume the 2 drink limit today, on a weekend, is to curb people getting a little rowdy(which is what we were loosely told). Which, I do get to an extent. But at the same time we’re all adults and are capable of decisions and restraint. I was the driver so if anything I wish it could be three and I would’ve gladly bought all of my tickets and let us try and split one more stout with our group. Even if I only got a sip or 3. Their beer is that good I’ll leave some behind. First world problems for sure. It’s just the giant list makes picking two weirdly stressful ha. Honestly it’s really not a big deal ha

Permanence was excellent. I forgot to get blend 2. Also tried Perfect storm and enjoyed it after a stout tasting but I kind of made a funny face as I sipped it. Guy had said definitely get that but QM is good too. He kindly said I don’t think you liked that. Wanna just change your order to queen Julius we also discussed. I say sure, but quickly realized he was right and Perfect Storm was the one. Again, solid people working there.

Small side note and question for folks. My lady and I got Covid back in 2020 when we had my car repaired lol. I was pretty mellow but she lost the taste and smell. It’s come back but not fully. Hops for her have the devil rubber taste now. We’ve been experimenting and recently she enjoyed Fort Point again. She took my Queen Julius and loved it! Finished her off. Lastly enjoyed Edward as well at the Abbey today. Have any BA’s experienced the taste changing abs struggled to find hoppy beers they still enjoy? Specifically Tree House? We’ll try any someone who has the issue recommends.

Armsby was amazing today. Got there at 3:30 before the dinner menu kicks off and crowd shows up. 20 minutes later it was bonkers! Double Citra was great, but not a Farmstead all time favorite. Still top tier of all beers. Kicked in like 3 hours. Literally all they could pour was Double Citra, Edward, Everet and Marie.

    Have a great weekend all!
