I took @IGaveYouPower up on this recommendation in September - you won't regret it - solid beer - a great soft pretzel, and a view to die for.

Not so much a view either, but Frequentum is close to YL and also worth checking out - great outdoor space, but no lake view (thanks for this one too, IGYP)

Lost Planet Brewing will be opening in Royersford, PA March/April. In an old firehouse, nice building.
Within a mile of Stickman and Tuned Up. Not too far from Rebel Hill.

Woodland Farm Brewing — who I’ve been beating the ‘best big/dark beers in NY’ drum on for a while — are opening a second location in Boonville. I imagine everyone reading this just said, “where in the Memphis fuck is Boonville,” and it’s like 30 mins north of Rome/Utica.

I also imagine nobody will ever be there, but there’s a massive antique fair there every year so if you find yourself at that (or being dragged to it) just know you can get some dope beer too.

I am having a bit of deja vu about this - was this something previously announced a few years ago? Or was there something else that was planned in Royersford that fizzled out?

Somehow missed this post but yeah, Laurentide is super impressive and I love their space. Plus there’s some good eats and shit to do in Penn Yan so that’s one I highly recommend for any FLX travelers.

Yes, probably a case of COVID Interuptus.

Place called Run & Hide Brewing slated to open in Port Chester in the next couple months right by the Capitol Theatre. I guess they’ve been doing can drops in the Westchester area for a bit so you can seek out their beer before they open.

    - Speckled Pig Brewing in Ballston Spa slated to open in June — which would be very smart for them, open right before track season in Saratoga. Brewer is a local guy who’s been homebrewing a while and they’re gonna have a solid food menu from the looks of it.

    - Jones Beach Brewing, which has been around a while, is apparently opening their brick-and-mortar spot March 11 at The Helm in Freeport.

A rare closure: Looks like Diner Brew Co in New Rochelle folded. Says ‘permanently closed’ on their Google listing and they’ve scrubbed themselves totally from any social media.

Their situation was always kind of weird and I could never even figure out if they had a visitable taproom. Beer was solid the few times I had it though.

The Test Brewery just hit my radar.

I just don’t know quite what it is yet? They boast collabing with Root & Branch and Hudson Valley as well as brewing and releasing out of Great South Bay which makes me think an offshoot or side project of somebody from R&B but I couldn’t find out for sure.

Their IG has info on releases and the beer sounds dope so I’ll be excited to try it when I can.

    Definitely pretty far away.
But id also suggest checking out the place listing here on BA. Says all beers are retired and many currently available, such as batch 6 variants not listed at all.

No BS Brewing just opened their second taproom in Victor. Haven’t been to the flagship in Livonia yet but it’s on my way out to the Finger Lakes so I’ll get there.

Staying in Victor, Twin Elder is in the process of moving out of their current taproom and into another one in town. Looks like the new one is up and running already and the new old one is gonna shut down when its lease expires this year.

Mean Max (of Glens Falls) opening a satellite location in Troy at Monument Square. Dope because I always really liked them but GF is a fucking hike from me. Also, couldn’t have picked a better time given that they’re starting that huge Monument Square development project that’s gonna make it the focal point of the city.

Forgot to mention this when I found out but Rare Form (of Troy) is also planning on moving a few blocks over and into Monument Square. No timeline there but probably not until next year.

Does Schmaltz still have that weird little "taproom" on that block?

Also, did anything ever come of the proposed "Collar City Brewing"?

Due to COVID I haven't been back to RPI for any Alumni events in more than 2 years now.

Looks like there’ll be a new brewery in Ithaca in late spring. Revelry is opening in the spot vacated by Ithaca Ale House, planned by the folks behind Luna Street Food.

Still seeing work done at Personal Best in the old City Health club, just a couple blocks away. That’ll be 3 breweries within a mile of each other—plus the Lucky Hare tap room.

Shmaltz is still there, yeah. They partnered with a local coffee company and a chocolatier, both of which sell out of that taproom so it’s become a pretty cool spot actually.

Collar City I’m considering dead in the water. Last update on social media was their collab w/ Frog Alley in 2019 (which was really good) and I haven’t heard them mentioned in any capacity since. Sucks, their taproom was gonna be right near Muza and Cookie Factory and in an old church. Seemed dope, just not to be I guess.

New York is getting its first lager brewery!

Brewery Novalis is in the works in Syracuse (not sure where, taproom situation, anything) and they’ve released two collabs, one with Free Will and one with Wayward Lane. So that’s good company. Very excited to see what comes of that and very excited to see Cuse start to catch up to Rochester, Buffalo and Albany a bit.

Unrelated but lotta progress made with both Lasting Joy and Northern Barrell. Nothing official but I’d expect openings for both in the next 2-3 months.

There were a few more that followed Frederick and Maximilian, too, IIRC.
