I was wondering about this... Shelton went out of business a good while ago and it almost seemed to coincide with people randomly having stocked up their cellars. It was weird how much Cantillon I was seeing people bring around. But then it also occurred to me they started making their limited releases more accessible with online releases.

Unfortunately that’s just the state of beer trading nowadays. The pandemic made most breweries transition to online sales with proxies, and most are sticking with that model. It cuts the local flippers out of the deal, and sends their beer further afield and into the hands of people who will actually drink it. Cantillon isn’t the only brewery to see depreciating values. Look at Side Project’s crown jewel BBT… compare the values of BBT 2018 vs. BBT 2021!

When you add on the fact that most people are selling and buying, it amounts to a terrible state of affairs for old school beer traders.

My best suggestion is to look for European online beer stores that ship within the EU. Www.beergium.com used to get a lot of hype American craft beers, but it’s been awhile since I perused their store. Or find a Euro based FB trade group, but I doubt Cantillon seasonals will get much interest.

I just bought a Fou 21 at the end of december at my local store. Granted they only got less than a case, but 2 kegs of it also came to the city. Not sure if thats a recent thing or not but at least in Missouri its being distributed by Craft Republic.

Lime Beverage is importing cantillon to the US these days. From the retailer that I am closest too they are a much better company as far as customer service and had already been receiving their cantillon order direct (while paying Shelton bros a cut) before Shelton went under.

Fou 18 or 19 that I purchased in early 2020 was like 65$

Steep price, but cheaper than I expected, to be honest.

Holy shit, that's incredible, no wonder noone wants to trade for this stuff anymore :slight_frown:. Is that the regular price or are you friendly with the owner of the shop or something? I mean, that's not a lot more than I paid and I'm friendly with the owner of the place I bought it at and in Europe...

Ya, I'm in a very rural area with only one store that carries anything like cantillon so we don't get the best pricing

It's pretty amazing to me that you can get Fou Foune in a rural area at all, just goes to show how available this stuff has become in the US once again, I guess...

Indeed, we're blessed with a passionate proprietor that gives us an unusually amazing beer bar and bottle shop. But ya, cantillon is certainly no longer a super rare sight in the states generally

You must remember that it also depends on where you live, though. Some parts of the country just won’t see it. Period. @unlikelyspiderperson happens to live in California. That plays a roll.

Also, as most can attest, distribution is wierd. Even when you feel like you should see something, you often never do. Indiana has some of the worst distribution anywhere I have ever visited, for example.

What would I be looking at giving up to acquire some of the more highly sought after Wax Wings barrel aged offerings? Specifically Choros, DB Prison of Elders or Heights Single Barrel. I mostly have Side Project beers. Would Anabasis be able to get 2 of the above? All 3? Any tips appreciated. Thanks!

Same price for everyone, but this particular store only got 3 bottles. So its few and far between that we actually get anything good from Cantillon. I know another larger chain in town with 3 stores only got 6 bottles between the 3 stores.

I’ve seen Cantillon on the shelf range from $30-100.
Depends mostly on how much the owner of the store wants to gouge their customers.

I'm interested in trying to obtain one or more ADWTD TO vintages. What kind of haul does each of the three batches command separately?

    Potential trade bate would be:

    ChemTrailmix '21
    Handjee '21 and/or '20
    BBT '20/b4
    50N4E -20 + Fou '18 or '20
    Zenne b9
    Rye BA Gratitude
    Variety of Voodoo BRC including
    Black Magick Blantons
    Black Magick DO b2
    Black Magick EC
    Zangief EC
    V3 BT and Blanton’s
    Heart And Soul
    Hot Garbage Bourbon Cognac
Aphotic Bourbon Cognac and Cherry Brandy

If you want B1 you'd have to do something like BBT+
B2 and B3 were larger batches and on tavour for a while (so they're less valuable/easier to get), might be 1:1 with black magiks or something like that.

How big of a plus do you think would be required with the newest BBT to land TO batch 1?

You’ll probably need two BBT 21s to get a TO b1
