Is lunch at Crispy Gài take out only?

    Thanks!

I haven’t checked recently, but that has been the case. 12-3 for takeout and open at 5 for dinner.

Thanks, guys. I read their website but I guess I just didn’t want to believe it. Haha. I’m hitting Portland for lunch tomorrow on the way up to Sebago and wanted to try this place out. We’ll probably hit Oxbow/Terlingua.

Ran into the same issue in January. Went up at Friday for lunch and was disappointed when I saw they were takeout only. Luckily we went there for dinner on Saturday.

Terlingua had a HUGE wait for lunch last Saturday (girlfriend was up there) and the weather was shitty too.

Given the beautiful weather today you may want to see if you can do reservations or at least give yourself some time after you put your name in. Of course Oxbow across the street makes it super easy to kill some time...

I'm very jealous of anybody spending the day on a brewery porch somewhere (hopefully without their damn kids!) be in Allagash, Oxbow, Tributary, or Notch. Enjoy!

Totes...Portland looks beautiful today out of my office window.

Speaking of Tributary, I recommend a stop there on the way up to Portland if time allows. Even if you don’t stay, they usually have a nice selection of cans. Of course, many of those could probably be purchased in Portland as well.

Id take your view. I work in Bedford MA and I’m looking at a Gulf gas station while I eat lunch.

I can confirm that Portland and the surrounding area was beautiful yesterday.

My wife and I went to recent James Beard nominated restaurant, Leeward last weekend. The food and service was top notch, I recommend it to anyone looking for something a little more on the fine dining side of Portland. Definitely not a beer stop, it’s more about wine and craft cocktails. We ordered wine, gin, and all the pasta they had, it was a great night.

I can’t wait to try Leeward. I’m a gigantic fan of the dinner time switch to cocktails and/or wine.

My wife and I also just went here two weeks ago after hearing about them for the first time when they got the nomination. Our overall take was that it was good. There were a few aspects we really enjoyed, a few others we thought were pretty average or slightly odd. Probably wouldn’t rush to go back. But from all the 5-star reviews on Yelp, we may be in the minority.

I was offered a belated birthday (I was quite under the weather for my actual birthday) Sunday lunch by my mom a few days ago. So we chose Terlingua and I mixed it up with the fish tacos which were pretty damn good. But because I was with others as opposed to my first trip and would not be judged, I had the deviled eggs appetizer which came with smoked scallops(!) on Sunday. So good!

The bonus was that I would have liked to do one brisket taco and one fish taco, but my stepdad wanted the lunch board, mom was dead set on something or other and my wife was getting something simple (queso and chips to actually hold down something). Buuut, when we went in the market they had a packaged brisket taquito take home meal. The person ringing up my purchase gave me tips on how to prepare the food, so yeah I am looking forward to lunch tomorrow!

The only negative is I realized afterward that Duckfat Frite Shack does some Sunday brunch dishes that looked very good. So if you do a proper weekend, maybe on Saturday a Terlingua lunch and Leeward dinner, then a Sunday Frite Shack brunch at Oxbow would be a nice agenda. (With A,B,C,X,Y,Z in between those meals.). The Bissell Brothers Kitchen chicken wings are pretty nice so that needs to come into play as well...

How would you say it compares to the other high end restaurants in town? Such as Scales, Fore Street, and Street and Co.?

Haven't been to Central Provisions or Honey Paw yet, but those "seem" high end. Only been to Via Vecchia for apps and drinks, but that also seems on the nicer side.

If you go to Portland with me, it's possible to fit everything in.

I thought the wings at Bissell were good, but nothing I'd go out of my way for. In Portland you have to pick your "battles".

Their burger was good too though, almost like a high end Big Mac.

I haven’t been to Street and Co, but Scales, Fore Street, Central, and Chaval are all much better fine dining options than Leeward IMO. I’ve been hearing great things about Broken Arrow too, but haven’t made it over there yet. Honey Paw is great but it’s more your typical Portland semi-upscale casual place.

You should go! It was my favorite out of the sister restaurants (Scales, Street and Co., Fore Street).

My wife and I are headed up to Portland for our anniversary next weekend, based on this thread and some research I ended up booking dinner at Scales one of the nights, which I'm pretty pumped for.

My wife's request for the weekend: "I want to eat so much seafood that I don't need to eat seafood for six months after."

Very doable unless she really likes seafood.
