I'm heading to Charlton on Monday on my way up north to vacation for the week. Anything particularly outstanding I should try and grab? I generally prefer non-adjunct IIPAs. Thanks!

Take a look at what is available that morning for sure but, from what is currently listed I recommend Very Hazy, Juice Machine, Bbbrighttt w/ Galaxy, King Julius and Mega Treat. I haven't had many of the other DIPAs, looks like a lot of new names to me.
If you are considering mixing things up and getting more than just DIPAs don't sleep on their lagers. They make some very tasty ones (Trail, Wanderer, House Lager, Aztec Harvest).
    Safe travels.

Here's a very small issue I've had with buying Charlton draft tickets over the last few years, curious if it happens to other people, if it's an Android issue, Google Pay, whatever. Most recent time was yesterday.

Every time I go to buy draft tickets, when they are in the cart and I hit the Pay Now button, the CC form comes up. In the browser, my saved CC info autopopulates the form, but instead of the expiration date showing 23 for 2023, it shows 20. I delete the 20, fix it to 23, make sure the rest of the form is filled out correctly, and I send it through. I consistantly gets denied the first time I try this, every single time. When I go back a few screens after getting denied, I repeat the process exactly, and it goes through without issue. This has never happened to me on any other site ordering anything else, and it doesn;t even happen if I buy cans, but it happens EVERY TIME when I get draft tickets.

Not a big deal, it's kind of funny that it happens all the time, and the order always goes through the 2nd time, but its weird nonetheless.

I've had the same thing happen on other sites. Couldn't tell you what the specific issue is unfortunately.

    3/22 Julius is phenomenal

I occasionally see people on social media post something along the lines of Julius, green, and haze all tasting the same. If you (I know no one here does) genuinely believe that, don’t waste you money on TH, stick to 3 month old shelfies

It's funny. I used to think this because of that strong bubblegum yeast. It was hard for me to pick out specific notes other than maybe one or two.

Mind you, this was back in 2015 so I was still a bit of a newbie. That all said, I still loved every beer I had because the flavor was so unique and like nothing else at the time.

Very GGGreeNNN is absolutely amazing. Beautifully bitter in a sea of pineapple juice.

Sandwich still is a $65 minimum for orders and drafts can only be bought 2 at a time (although there is a three draft limit). What gives?

I definitely have no judgement towards someone who thinks that, but when they’re talking shit about a brewery (th in this case) because they have a wrong opinion, I find it mildly annoying.

Idk if it's a "wrong" opinion. Uninformed, maybe. But we all have different palates.

Trillium hoppy beers taste like mayo to me, and I've been told that's absurd by people who also hate their beer now.

Someone will taste the best batch of King Julius ever and think it tastes like shit, and then enjoy their Lord Hobo.

    *shrugs*

I think in terms of neipas, Julius, green, and haze, are objectively different in taste, and are very good examples of different hop varieties and their different characteristics.

To your other points, I have no arguments, if someone thinks lord hobo is better than th, good for them.

I’ll weigh in and say that if you got into IPA’s way back and were drinking the limited amount we had locally(Stone, Wachusett, Ballist, Lagunitas, etc) say mid 2000’s through 2010. Then you know the absolute mind blowing thing it was first having Heady, then hill farm and later Treehouse and Trillium. All very much different and excellent. Treehouse just had that yeast flavor and the bubble gum thing. First time I had it I was put off and thought it was an IPA that had some like Belgium beer splashed in somehow. That’s how weird it was. But I very quickly grew to love it and then was chasing it as the expanded. Then you had Congress and later headroom as well as Substance. Again, all different. But I do think if you fast forward to the modern ipa consumer(say 2016/17 on) you might try treehouse after 1,346 other ipas which are all similar and either love it, or wonder what the fuck that weird taste is. Ignorance to the past doesn’t make anyone wrong or less legit in their preferences. But I think the long standing BA’s see through a different lens. Myself included!

Sandwich is fucking beautiful. What an enjoyable trip. I will say for anyone going it is a much smaller tap list than the other locations and that won’t be expanding. But it has something for everyone.
The view is hard to beat. The staff was awesome to chat with and they run a tight ship. Crushed some cold brew as we headed to VSB. Excellent as usual. Really enjoyed it the visit!

Came home to open a can of Hello Cape Cod….oof. That is not a good beer. Im hoping my next can might be good, but damn I wouldn’t have purchased. 3 of us said hell no. Tasted like malty hop water. To add to my point, when I had the pour in a glass my lady causally asked “what the f is that”as she walked by assuming it was an old can we had all dark and brown. Guess no brewery is perfect!
