There is some additional info behind the changeup to Twins Pils here. One interesting item is that Twins Pils will be available in 16 oz cans, but only at Target Field. Seems like a swing and a miss, as Keller Pils is certainly a beer I would buy at retail in 16 oz format.

Hot take - Twins Pils is not a rebrand, this is a different beer. The bready character is reduced (maybe almost gone) and it's completely clear, whereas Keller Pils was a bit cloudy.

    Dammit.

I was also told by a reliable source it is a different recipe. Summit will be offering 2 pilsners for the time being.

This is contrary to the info @grantcty linked to in post #2 above -- where Summit states it's only a rebrand of the Keller Pils.

Love to hear what your source is telling you.

I haven't had a chance to try Twins Pils yet but if this is true I'm really upset that Keller Pils as we know it is gone. It is one of MN's best beers IMHO.

I wonder if Summit felt they had to dumb down Keller Pils aiming for the Budweiser drinking baseball crowd by tweaking the recipe and making it clear.

Did your source also say why Summit is telling people it's just a rebrand and not an entirely new beer?

I'm in no position to doubt your source or Summit's web page or social media account(s), but I find it odd that Summit would say it's just a rebrand if it is in fact a new/different beer.

OK, I'm not gonna get ahead of myself, but this will really suck if they changed the profile of Keller Pils. This has been my hunting season go-to keg for the last 3 years!!

Someone correct me, but wasn't the original Keller Pils an unfiltered beer? Now @gudbrande is reporting that it's "clear"....damn, that's not a good sign!! I'm so sick of these recipe changes, (Yeah Dan @ New Glarus, I'm talking to you regarding the Cow!)

I can't access Keller Pils right now, so please, can folks sample the beer & report back. If it has changed I will be looking for a new go-to lager for the fall hunting season!!

C'mon man, we all know breweries just want to pull the wool over our eyes for no discernable reason.

Someone needs to let the brewery president/founder know if the recipe was changed.

    From the Summit web site:

    Twins Pils
Beer we go, Twins! Beer we go!

As the Official Hometown Craft Beer of the Minnesota Twins, we thought it high time we brewed an official craft beer of the hometown team. Summit Twins Pils is an unfiltered German-style pilsner that boasts a creamy white head and full body. Brewed with traditional German hops and barley, this crisp, refreshing pilsner has light citrus and honey flavors and finishes perfectly balanced and clean.

If the above sounded familiar, that’s because it is! Summit Twins Pils is an exciting rebrand of our beloved pilsner, Keller Pils. While already universally adored, combining our popular pilsner with the Twins name helps expand the beer’s reach to new drinkers.

BTW, I've noticed over the years that the "hazy/clear" aspect of Keller Pils could vary quite a bit, so I wouldn't depend on that as any indicator of a change in the recipe or process.

Had the wife help me with a blind taste test. Wasn't difficult to pick out the Keller Pils. She noticed the difference in the aroma when she opened the cans. They're not drastically different, and the Twins Pils isn't bad by any means, but it's just not the same.
