...from earlier this afternoon while trying out my "new" $20 Sony receiver from a pawn shop...

Tivoli Brewing Co. -- Rocky Mountain Outlaw
    American light lager
ABV: 4.0%; pouring temperature: unknown; canning data: unknown

    ----------------------------------------

...the receiver works fine but have ordered a phono preamp and bluetooth receiver to enhance its capabilities...the JBL 2600 speakers ($7.00) were a bust...one works, the other doesn't, so on the hunt for some decent, inexpensive bookshelf speakers - in the meantime, I've moved my old Bose 2.2 Series II bookshelf speakers (about 35 years old) from the 'Fortress of Solitude' to the new garage conversion...

...another beer from earlier this evening...

Fort George Brewing + Public House -- Matryoshka
Bourbon barrel aged Russian imperial stout
    ABV: 14.0%; pouring temperature: 49 °F; bottling data: 2022

    4.53/5 rDev +5.1%
    look: 4.25 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.75 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

Jet black, opaque body; thick and creamy light tan head. Nice aroma of mild grain char, cocoa, and bitter chocolate; trace of oak. Outstanding taste; rich, decadent chocolate with a balanced booziness; slightly spicy at the finish. Heavy body; thick and chewy; sludgy residual sugar feel; nice alcohol warmth adds a fine depth to the mouthfeel.

There are few things as enjoyable as a big, balanced, and boozy barrel aged Russian imperial stout. Fort George has produced a stunning example of this type of beer. It is just beautiful and truly delightful.

I have that exact receiver. I purchased it new....I think its got to be at least 15 or more years ago when we actually had independent stereo component stores, not just BB. Since I play music I always cranked that fkr and never had a problem. Still have it but just use it for my turntable since I have a PA system with Bluetooth.

Really shocked how lopsided this National Championship game is.

And recently just discovered this brewery from Estonia. Their beers aren't cheap but at least the ones I've had so far have all been rock solid!

If Putin decides to invade Estonia I think I might have to go and help defend this brewery. :nerd:

I was enlightened with that beer in a blind tasting from a BIF sent by the stellar BA @WesMantooth. I described it as a white flavored stout in my blind assessment. Wrong I was but good beers from Wolfs Ridge.

...there's no phono connection per se on the receiver, so right now it's plugged into the CD ports...the turntable has a built-in preamp, but even having that switched for line input (vs phono input) - the sound level is lower than the radio, so I figure a separate preamp may help a bit...then, streaming SiriusXM or music from the laptop or smartphone needs bluetooth, so once I get a basic BT receiver connected to the Sony, life should be good in AudioLand...

Damn, Carolina, really. I'm an ex player and love the game. I picked Kansas easy. It's second half now. I'm drinking a Rogue Colossal Claude Imperial IPA that's newly available at my local freaking little Walmart. Tough half ahead ya'll!!!!

Canned 2/22/22. When this beer is fresh, which is rare around here, its a pleasure. I usually think of hops first mostly but what I love most about this beer is the malt profile. Its perfectly dark enough, and adds a depth, but still a certain refreshing quality to the tropical hops.
    Dig it.[IMG]
