Each year is different for me. Some years I buy less, some I buy more. Inflation hasn't impacted much. As noted by others, we choose how to allocate our resources and that choice is totally dependent on the individual. I don't buy much else - I wear clothes until they can't be worn. I drive a normal car. When prices start to rise, I cut elsewhere! Beer is fun and brings me joy. So, the convoluted answer to the original question is HELL NO.

I'm active in a number of hobbies, and in my life many more I no longer do, and every one of them has/had snobs. Hard to get into a hobby to the point of having a keen interest to know more about it, and to discuss it, without meeting multitudes of them.

Ha, I don't think my new apartment will be conducive to this!

Also, my grocery bill each month is a lot more than my "beer bill", so in that regard I don't feel as bad.

Yup, there's that too. One of my other hobbies, working out in various forms, costs me nothing. My gym membership is free, as is running/walking outside!

I also drive a Toyota Corolla...good thing cars aren't one of my hobbies.

I took a better paying job as a work-from-home auto insurance adjuster recently. Price inflation is a thing but so is wage inflation. My pay is keeping pace with inflation so far but I hate the thought of paying more so I'm mixing in the Hamm's, Miller High Life and PBR on occasion. I have really noticed the inflation at bars and restaurants. I'm not ordering beer with my dinner as much. Six dollars for an AAL or more for the good stuff is definitely giving me pause.

I've been picking up price reduced Christmas beers at about 75% off. They are usually high enough in ABV and spice that they keep longer than what is seasonally appropriate. Christmas in July should be pretty nice.

I drink Bud Light/Miller Lite probably 65-70% of the time now. I'm not paying $8 for a pint of some hazy IPA that tastes pretty much the same as the thousands of others. the higher price isn't worth it to me. Craft Beer isn't dead to me, but it is on life support. With rising prices, I'm closer to pulling the plug.

How would you compare the flavor profile of Bud Light vs. Miller Lite? Do you have a personal preference as regards flavor?

Also, do you noticed a difference between beers like Bud Light/Miller Lite vs. a more budget priced light beer (e.g., Busch Light)?

    Cheers!

Do you not have access to ~$10 6 packs of craft beers?

Although locally, lots of those 10s are 11s or 12s now. But there's still a wide spread in prices between the macro lagers and the $40 4 packs of the latest and greatest same hazy tipa

Where are they charging 8 for a pint? Cuz thats California prices in glitzy areas. A pint of Beachwood Citraholic is 8 dollars here
Thank Satanas that Old Rasputin, Dark Star , Speedway ,Old Stock and Yeti 4/6 packs are all under $15 here...with Old Rasputin holding strong at 10 dollars for a six pack

There's still some around. Admittedly I do prefer to drink in a tap room rather than at home - it gets me out of the house. What colors my view lately is the fact when I do go to a tap room, it is all hazy/hype beers. "We have 14 beer on tap!"..but 11 of them are the same beer:slight_frown:.

I think I'm also just getting oldish and don't drink much like I used to. I was in San Francisco in January and the one day I planned to go hard, after 5 beers (nothing 15% or anything) I was ready to call it a day by 5PM...5 years ago I could go for 10AM to 11PM and still have my sh*t together.

Midwest, baby! Or Flyover State, baby! Inflation won't hit here for a least another decade. I love visiting the coasts of the this country, but give me the affordability of the states that half the country can't locate on a map.

Prices are reasonable for 12 packs of Sierra Nevada and Sam Adams. Not to mention 15 packs from breweries like Founders.

Ya, that's definitely a less than thrilling aspect of the modern American beer scene. And you know those are gonna be $8+ pours!

We've got SN, Deschutes, North Coast and a couple locals that all do basic 6 packs in the 8.99-11.99 range. Cheaper 12 packs sometimes but there's only a few beers I buy in that volume. Scrimshaw for 15.99 is one of them as we get into the summer months

I drink only about once a week, sometimes twice. I usually only drink one beer as well, sometimes two. So, my beer budget hasn't really been broken at all. I haven't had many rare seasonal/limited released beers I'm dying to buy right now either so my mains have still been priced as expected.

It has, I've only drank a few dollar Yeungling pints this past month as opposed to my usual beer-a-day habit, which I usually try to have a few different varieties going on.

Beer prices have risen for me. Going to bars for tap is dangerously close, and sometimes cheaper, than buying cans in some areas.
