Good and hoppy Thursday to all!

I am opening and drinking now the Delirium Argentum beer from Brasserie Huygues.. Amber IPA at just 7% ABV.

Have a cold and great one in your glass today!

Mmmm-hmmm.... a few innocent chocolate carbs before a run.
Will check in later today; hope your mornings go swimmingly.
    Now get out there!

    Cheers...

...my Thursday would be better if I didn't have to cancel my 90 minute massage for later this afternoon (got roofers coming today and Mrs. BeerGoot is up in the mountains of Colorado visiting friends)...but, I resolved a dryer electrical wiring issue already this morning and completed other normal Thursday chores, so may as well have a beer...

Anchorage Brewing Co. -- Bitter Monk
Belgian-style double IPA with brettanomyces; Citra dry hopped version
ABV: 9.0%; pouring temperature: 47 °F; bottling data: Batch #6

    look: 3.5 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.25

Fairly clear, medium gold colored body; fair carbonation; thin, patchy head yet lasting; a few strings of foam hang down the glass. Outstanding aroma; light citrus and brett funk combination; Belgian yeast scent with a bit of raw oak; light, grainy toastiness. Wonderful taste; deft touch of citrus and dry white wine; mild note of brett funk; mild bitterness. Medium-heavy body; soft and spongy on the palate; bold dryness undercuts a slight juiciness.

The age of this beer is unknown to me, but the contents sure are fantastic. Elements of depth and complexity ooze and meld together with this beer, combining bits of lime and white wine with a bit of graininess and a nice touch of bitterness all wrapped up with a slight wild yeast character.

After this morning drawing class, and the sketch I have drawn but cannot share it yet here (not finished as it’s quite the task), laundry is about done and so is mopping the floor.

I believe that this Kasteel Donker is deserved.

Martin House Brewing Co. -- Monolith
    Whiskey barrel aged imperial stout
    ABV: 13.0%; pouring temperature: 56 °F; canning data: Brewed on: Sept.30, 2021, CANNED ON 02/2?/22; 100% unblended

Opaque, jet black body; thin, wispy light brown head. Heady blend of roasted and charred grains; fresh ground coffee beans; caramel. Unbelievable flavor combinations; chocolate and cocoa, caramel, vanilla; nougat; maple syrup; sublime note of bourbon. Heavy, chewy body; rich and thick; viscous sweetness; light alcohol warmth offsets the residual sugars.

Wow! Wow!! And wow!!! Martin House did an excellent job with this beer, meeting their goal of creating an unblended, thick imperial stout. My relatively low score on the looks is primarily the lack of any significant head, but that is such a minor concern when we're into beer for the taste and aroma, right? And in those areas, this beer excels. I'm glad the box came with two 12 oz cans as opposed to one 22 oz bottle. Now I can set the other can aside and relish this fantastic beer again at a later date. Well done!

I don't grab Sea Hag often enough but it always reminds me I should. I like my beer without a bunch of garbage at the bottom.
    Happy Thursday!

Like Bill Veeck, I am not a fan of the current owner. I'm boycotting until he (and La Russa) are gone.

Happy Thursday Advocates! Thanx @Shanex for popping open todays thread. I'm a bachelor for 3+ days now so I thought I'd kick it in with this world-class drop: Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Barleywine Ale 2021. The bottling date is Dec 10, 2020. I bought it Sept 26, 2021 in Sioux Falls and it's been refrigerated and covered with a brown bag ever since. I've 6pks of 2021 & 2022 and as you can see from the bottles pic there's a distinctive diff in the appearance, the '21 being cloudy. It has a LARGE pine resin and malt wave with a very long linger. Just incredible! and drinks easily with a feeling like I'm hookin' up with an old friend. I feel lucky and it's great to be here. Cheers!
