Oswego is finally getting their first brewery in The Oswego Beer project, going in an old Foundry Building on the main drag. That whole area is super underserved, there’s nothing in Fulton, Pulaski, etc so this place is gonna probably do well no matter what.

Interestingly enough, Syracuse.com has an article about this and at the end of the story it lists 3 other 'active' licenses....Junco Brewing appears, via their FB page, poised to open very soon. But, yes, long overdue indeed.

Took a drive by the hopefully soon to be open Lost Planet Brewing in Royersford PA yesterday.
Still a dumpster out front and work being done on the driveway and bay doors (it's a former firehouse). Place is beautiful, but I can tell them that the gorgeous deck they built on the back side is too small. A half mile south is Tuned Up Brewpub and a mile north is Stickman Brewing. Looking forward to this place opening.

I saw that but couldn’t find any info about Junco (admittedly Facebook was the one place I didn’t think to check), 6 Mile Farm or whatever seems to just sell at farmers markets and there was zero for the other one. I will never understand places that in this day and age make it difficult to find out shit about them online, you’re pissing away business.

But regardless, good call and it looks like Oswego is going from zero to two so good for them and that area.

Other One Brewing in Clifton Park NY opens on Friday. I hadn't been super hyped on them just because there was very little info on who's involved, what they'll brew, etc, but their brewer has apparently been home brewing for 30 years.

If you've been at it that long, you know what you're doing, so I'm excited to check that out this weekend.

Orange County Brewing has just opened in New Hampton, NY - same site as a distillery under the same name. Have heard good things about both, and seems like a cool place to hang out in general, so will definitely check it out soon. Not far from another new one I've been meaning to check out, Shepherd's Eye Brewing, let alone a handful of other breweries in the county (Equilibrium, Rushing Duck, Long Lot, Tin Barn, Drowned Lands, Foreign Objects) within 20 minutes or so either direction.

Another new one is Gearblock Brewing in Waldwick, NJ (Very close to NY border), having their grand opening Friday 4/29. Seems to have a few people excited, will definitely check out when in the area.

I've also gotta get down to Shepherd's Eye but had been everywhere else nearby multiple times so it was kind of on the back burner, but I think that trip just got expedited. Orange County Distilling/Brewery is on a gorgeous property, good looks on mentioning this, I had heard nothing about it.

    Some updates:

    1) Other One in Clifton Park was impressive. Beers (two NEIPA, one DNEIPA, one non-imperial/non-adjunct stout, a red ale and one other I'm forgetting were all super well done. The space is unremarkable and there's no outdoor seating but the beer is for sure good enough to make it a part of my rotation.

    2) Spotted Octopus in Buffalo has opened.

    3) This is a LOL situation regarding Northern Barrell in Voorheesville:

Why am I finding this out in the paper AFTER you've already had your soft opening? Like part of your initial scouting of a location didn't insure that you could BREW AT YOUR BREWERY?

I'll go if they eventually start making their own beer, and the space looks very nice and the food looks good, I just cannot fathom how that happened and how they've made no mention of this themselves on their social media channels.

I've got to know. And of course this is with total love and respect, since you rove the state and report out to us about so many places:

How many breweries are in your "rotation?"

    Haha its a fair question.

Places I go (pretty much) every month: Rare Form, Great Flats, Singlecut, Browns, Indian Ladder Farms. Fidens (this is pickup only though).

Then I try to get to Whitman, Fort Orange, Mixed Breed. Unified Beer Works, The Warbler, Bye-I, Active Ingredient and Frog Alley with at least somewhat regularity.

Occasionally, if it's convenient or they've got something I'm itching to try: Pump Station, Real McCoy, Druthers.

I'd love to go to Common Roots, Paradox, Wayward Lane and Wolf Hollow way more than I do but the distance is prohibitive.

I'm lucky with location though. Indian Ladder is four minutes from my office. Browns/Rare Form are eight minutes away from home. Fort Orange 10. Fidens the same. Singlecut like 15. Great Flats like 25 but we do trivia there and a buddy lives right down the road. Also fortunate to have a S/O and friends that love beer so breweries are easy places to meet up.

Syracuse's Stout Beard is picking up shop and heading to Liverpool apparently, consolidating because their brewhouse and taproom used to be in different locations. They're moving to what used to be a bowling alley a few miles down the road from Buried Acorn.

Can't speak to their beer, I've never been because their hours are stupid (closed Sunday, not open until 5 any other day) but hopefully I'll get a chance to check the new digs out. They're shooting for a fall opening.

Ha! me either. I tried 3 different times to go, and my buddy's house is right across 690 in E. Syr. But they're never open.

So I'm on Minor Key's email list and they sent out an email on Friday saying "hey, we're having a soft opening with just pre-filled growlers so come by if you're interested."

I went, they had two options (cream ale or black IPA) so I grabbed the cream ale and talked to the owner a bit. Right now they're brewing and packaging at Frog Alley, but will hopefully be up-and-running to brew at the barn on their property this year. It will NOT be a taproom, though he says they do hope to open one eventually.

The cream ale was a total banger so I'll for sure be back for more growler releases.

What was awesome though, is the owner told me I was the first one to come by. So I was the first person to ever buy beer from a brewery which is for sure a first for me.

Also, per Will Cleveland, looking at a summer opening for Brewery Novalis in "the city of Syracuse." No word on exact location yet.

Something called Head and Heart brewing in the works in Cobleskill. No social media presence but somebody put them on Google Maps and there was an LLC set up September of last year. Probably a ways out there.

    More Frog Alley-adjacent news.

FA has several small indoor-outdoor bars at their taproom to be used for incubators for start-up breweries and the first, Craftpoint, opens memorial day weekend. Will have five beers on tap and will be open Thursday-Sunday.

So I need more info on them and can't find it but Grow Brewing Co. has had some can drops (looks like 4-5 IPAs and a pils so far) and will be setting up shop in Geneva. No word on a taproom, and most of their drops look like they're in the Syracuse area but I'll be out that way next month so I'll try and grab some of their stuff. Untappd ratings are high and the can art is gorgeous, FWIW.

    1) This seems a ways off (given that they have a Gofundme to get started) but something called Weiss Fermentations in the works for the 'Northern Catskills'. IDK where they consider that exactly, Phonecia? Tannersville? Hunter?

    2) One-Eyed Cat in Williamsville looks pretty close to opening just based on social media posts.
