    Hey Everyone,

I drive around VT a couple times a year and I'm always happy to get my fill of good VT beer: Alchemist, Hill Farmstead, Lawson's, Lost Nation, etc. Love Prohibition Pig and Three Penny Taproom. I don't usually hang out in Burlington though. I'll be there soon and wondering what are some of the top beers around there? I've never been to Foam so I'm definitely going there. Any other recommendations? Thanks for any input!! Cheers.

Haven’t been to either but I’ve had my eye on Zero Gravity’s Beer Hall and Black Flannel’s spot in Essex.

Four Quarter's new spot just outside Burlington (Winooski) is a great place. Burlington Beer Co also just opened a new location. Haven't been, but definitely on my hit list.

I would recommend grabbing dinner at Deep City if you go to Foam (connected to Foam). Foam beer has always been hit or miss for me but the dinner I had at Deep City last December was memorable.

My only advice, if you find yourself at Burlington Beer Company, is to not sleep on the food. The burger and the fries are both phenomenal. The fries. Man. From a beer perspective, when I was there, it was like very murky IPAs and heavy stouts with like one brown ale in the middle. IDK how you feel about that.

Bring your vax card or a photo copy, lots of places were checking. Also, make sure to make reservations at places too if you can. For example, both Farmhouse and BBCo needed reservations. It does help to plan ahead.

Black Flannel in Essex, just outside Burlington. Great beers, variety of styles, and a James Beard-nominated chef running a kitchen turning out upscale gastropub fare.

I was just there this past weekend.
Can't go wrong with any of those mentioned (Foam, BBCo, Zero, Fiddlehead, etc.).
Went to Hen of the Wood, Farmhouse, and Luenig's for dinner. All great food, and all feature a good level of local VT beers. The Wife and I found that Burlington (and Winooski, Shelburne and Essex) have a lot to offer.
And I second the vax card and reservation thing. Some places want the vax card, and most places want reservations even in April.

    Cheers!

Tons of help here, TY!!! Reserved at Black Flannel (for brunch..may need to return for beers!), and at The Farmhouse and Deep City for dinners. Not sure if my "old man" body can do it but want to check out..Foam, Four Quarters, Zero Gravity and Black Flannel for beers. Maybe Burlington Beer Co too. On top of that, I might need to check out Andy A_Dog Skate Park. Probably not wise, again for old man reasons, but it looks like a great spot. Looking to grab lunch at Three Penny Taproom in Montpelier on return trip. Definitely wise tip to bring vax cards!! Thanks again everyone - I'll try to post some pics here later on. Cheers!

I would at least stop by Hen of the Wood for oysters and whatever Hill Farmstead they have on tap in between main meals.

Skate park is right across the park from foam.

It's a no for me dawg, as far as foam.

All the beers I had from them within the past 2 years have been disappointing. I had galaxie 3000 in February and all I tasted was onions.

Same goes for like clockwork. I had this beer like 3-4 years ago and it was banging. Now it's just onions

Mule Bar in Winooski has a solid tap list with usually 3-4 HF offerings.

I went to Foam when I did a Vermont beercation 5 years ago and was really impressed by everything. We've been getting distro of some of their stuff down in NY and honestly it wasn't as impressive as I remembered. Halo Bender was alright, but Distopian Dream Girl was pretty unenjoyable. When I checked it into untappd, it also looked nothing like pictures of friends' beers from several years ago. I was kind of hoping that it was just issues with transport. I'm going back to Vermont in July for my 40th birthday and definitely still plan to hit Foam, but maybe I need to temper expectations. Also picked up a lot of great info in this thread!

This has been my general feeling on Foam recently (mainly friends bringing it back so I know freshness and how it was kept is not an issue). I love the location so much that I'm wondering if that made me over-like the beers when I was there pre-Covid. I am sure I will visit next time in Burlington, but definitely have not enjoyed as much recently.

As a Burlington resident I can not remember the last time I had a good beer from Foam. I agree 4-5 years ago they were putting out good (not great) beers. Now I don’t even look at their cans in the store or visit the brewery

I’ve definitely had up and down experiences with Foam over the years. But the Galaxie 500 I had recently was phenomenal.

My last visit I had a beer that wasn't great, but the best Foam IPAs I've had were every bit as good as TH or HF. Don't have them frequently enough to know if they've actually trended downward or if I caught them on a bad week, but I would at the very least quibble with the idea that they've never been great.

I typically don’t buy foam cans when I see them around locally, but when I’m in Burlington, their taproom is a must visit for me. I’ve had some good times, and good beers with family and friends there.

Was in Burlington in September and can second a lot of these recommendations. Hen of the Woods might have been one of my favorite meals of all time.

I definitely want to check out the new Burlington Beer location (very close to Switchback). I've always been a fan of theirs, but enjoyed it more than I expected to in September (at the old location).

Zero Gravity was just ok. Was super mobbed when we were there. We actually enjoyed Queen City (across the street) better.

I was very let down by Foam in September. I was there for the first time in July of 2019 and really enjoyed everything I had. I was pretty disappointed in all of the beers that I had there in September. Wasn't really impressed with Deep City either.

Definitely this! Very close to Four Quarters as well. Had some HF, poutine and good burgers here!

The Archives was a major highlight of our recent visit. We really enjoyed the vibe/food at Zero Gravity, though it was a quiet, rainy Sunday. Stopped at Black Flannel on our way into town and were a bit surprised when we pulled into a strip mall. Solid beer though, and the food looked great.
