Tree of Light is very good, but not different enough from the base Tree of Life to be worth $18 for 12oz

To be fair, i purchased a barrel aged BW from New Park which was $18 for 500ml and TOL crushes it in every way

Agreed, the last batch of ba blended tol (b3 I think) was excellent, pretty hard to beat given the price point. I also think the same about persist in regards to stouts.

Opened another can of Hello Cape Cod.

    What happened here?

I just want a replacement 4 pack! :triumph: That’s horrid, by like random brewpub standards. I can’t be the only one

    Have you messaged the brewery?

Thanks Matt, I did send something. I think I’m just shocked by it. Would be like going to Schilling, Suarez or Notch and getting a muddled mess of lager tasting Belgian. It’s unheard of.

Maybe better to say, has anyone else experienced this? I’ll follow up with them. Very happy Queen Machine turned out to be a flavor Em enjoys given Covid killed her taste buds for hops etc. Glad the dark and malt side is still all good!

If you Charge a premium and make people buy it directly from you, then no excuse for shit beers. Buy yourself some East rock. They are always good, cheap, and can be bought at the package store.

I don’t post often, but read regularly…I picked up a 4-pack of Hello Cape Cod on March 18th and it’s absolutely fine…quite delicious. Just thought I would weigh in on @Jbrews observation.

Thanks! That’s what I was curious about. I’ll follow up. Never had a bad beer from them before.

I enjoy TH's Lagers in general, but I really didn't find this one to be great. A bit bland for a style that can be much more expressive

I just saw on their Twitter that they are now offering Double Shot Cold Brew and Double Shot Whole Bean. Would Whole Bean be the same as plain ol Double Shot?

Thanks for the info! I did get a bottle of Double shot recently. It was over two years old but tasted great.

What I have learned is double shot typically rotates the coffee with each batch. So even whole bean changes each time. It's confusing why it's on the BA top 250 if it's a different coffee each time. Top 250 is quite interesting. Beers like BBT are retired each year because of different blends, yet Anabasis is on there? Anabasis also changes every year.

    End of rant haha

I would say not because typically a beer aged on coffee is going to be aged on cracked beans. This treatment labeled as whole bean means they left the beans intact.

Anybody else finding the 3/25 batch of Moment of Clarity undrinkably sweet? This beer is usually sweet but well balanced and dangerously drinkable, with the coffee and roasted malt base balancing the maple. This batch is like drinking pure maple syrup. Two sips and I'm about done. Disappointing. My wife, who usually loves this beer, feels the same.

Fortunately the hoppy beers I picked up (Green, Julius, Very Hazy, Lights On) were all on point.

Haven’t tried it, but just came here to say that Weizenbock is not lager. Uses top-fermenting yeast typically.

Agree that their lagers in general are solid lately. Really enjoyed the Vienna and the Trail Cascade. Free to Roam remains my favorite though.

Sucks to hear, that beer is one of my favorites. I don’t get the milk stouts much anymore as they cause me some issues about 8 hours later… I’d love for them to just cut the lactose on all stouts. They really don’t need it. They’re already sweet and have a full body.

Double shot is just as sweet as the milk stouts (too sweet imo!), agree on wanting to see them explore ditching the lactose on more of them.

I totally agree. If it somehow leaked that DS had lactose in it, I wouldn’t be surprised as it tastes very similar to the others that have it. It just further reinforces my feelings that the lactose offerings don’t need it
