I took my bottle shop guy’s suggestion on that one. Super easy drinking and 10%. They only distribute to a handful of stores, so I had not tried them before. Will have to visit their brewery next visit to Columbus.

Good afternoon, Happy Easter, and long time no see to all BA denizens. To make a long story short, I've temporarily relocated to Florida due to a deteriorating situation i was facing in Charlotte. As a result there's been much work with no play, and today I've put an end to that with my first beer in months. Stopped by Side Door Brewing in Port St. Lucie, FL, having their 2021 Whiskey Barrel Ale, a Barleywine aged in ex Basil Hayden barrels. God how i missed beer like this.

One of the greatest albums of all time, with one of my favorite porters...

Eric Dolphy's Out To Lunch, and King Titus (I probably spin this again today but with a Lunch next time ha). This is the original Blue Note pressing, was only able to afford it cause the cover is clipped at the top, which for whatever reason greatly decreases the value. Excellent condition otherwise, so I couldn't be happier :sunglasses:

Nice. Alcohol is barely detectable in this one. Amazing for a beer this big. Thanks, man!

Lawson's Finest Liquids Hopcelot IPA from Vermont. This is 7% ABV. Traditional non-hazy IPA and I appreciate that dearly. This is really, really good.

Not my best picture but had some breakfast casserole and sourdough toast a little earlier. I managed to eat three helpings. There is still at least two-thirds of it left!

[IMG] Tonight's Easter Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup:

    1) Summit Keller Pils (5.1%):
A zwickel-style beer from Minnesota that has flavors of lemon, honey, and yeast with a dry finish.
    versus
    2) Weihenstephaner 1516 Kellerbier (5.6%): A kellerbier/zwickel from Germany with flavors of bread malts, lemon, and honey. Finish is smooth.

    3) Fair State Brewing Mister Falcon (7.3%): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Simcoe, Citra, Strata for flavors of tangerine and pineapple. A juicy finish.
    versus
    4) Falling Knife Vertical Tip IPA (7.3%): A NEIPA from Minnesota made with Citra and Mosaic for flavors of citrus zest, pink grapefruit, pomelo for a very citrusy NEIPA.
    (mismatched these two blind)

    5) Surly Ghost Empire (5.5%): A German European Lager from Minnesota with flavors of brown bread, toasted crust and amber malts and nutty. Mild and clean.
    versus
    6) Modist Brewing Olde Omen (6.5%): A German Bock from Minnesota with flavors of chocolate, roasted malt, some leathery & beefy jerky. A clean finish.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Winners:

    1) Summit Keller Pils
: One of my all-time favorite pilsners. The light lemonflower and dry grains are perfectly dry and crisp for warm weather. Weihenstaphaner is more authentic, but drank more similar to a German Helles than I expected for the style.

    4) Falling Knife Vertical Tip IPA: This IPA is citrus zest all the way. The body gives it the win though because it finishes clean while Mister Falcon had a heavier and less carbonated body.

    5) Surly Ghost Empire: Mild, but the flavor complexity is there. Brown bread crust, toasted malts, and nutty flavors. The darkness of Olde Omen couldn't get the win on Easter Sunday!
